Right?!?!

Did you try TotK yet, as well? The difference with seeing 4K on my 82" 8K TV at 60fps is so incredible. I could never go back to playing these games on the Switch. For me, the price of a Switch2 is worth the Switch2 versions of both games.

Negative, BotW is the first game I've tried the Switch 2 upgrade. Getting it going was fairly easy, I put the game card in and when it got to the main menu it prompts you about whether you want to play the Switch 2 version which is only $10 if you have the original Switch version. It was also a quick download. You can continue a previous game from the original or start a new one, I decided to start a brand new game. Yesterday I was able to finish up the great plateau and now I'm headed to Kakariko Village for the first time. I don't have an 82" 8K TV, it's just a 55" 4K Fire TV but it's a definite improvement from the characters to the landscape.

I'll get to TotK at some point but I wanted a fresh start of BotW since it's been years since I've played it.

Awesome! I don't know when I will get around to a BotW replay. I am currently working on my first TotK playthrough and probably over 75% through. I was overwhelmed the first time I tried playing this one and put it down. Started a new playthrough back around March, but put it on hold until the Switch2, because I hated the performance.

I still have 6-7 games to get through, but then I will finally dive into the S2 BotW playthrough. It's in my top 3 games of all time and I can't wait to actually walk through the Kokiri forest without it feeling like it's streaming from the moon.

I'm a little conflicted on TotK because it might just be too big a game. I didn't end up finishing it, I'm in the homestretch of the castle but at some point I just decided I couldn't spend any more time on that game. I loved the depths because it was just so different. I also loved how you could build anything you want with enough patience. But between the standard map, the depths, the sky, and so on it's just so much game. I know I'll get back to it at some point, but when it came time to play a Zelda game on Switch 2 I knew it had to be BotW. If you could do all the mechanics of TotK but have them in a game the size of BotW it would be the best of both worlds.

Are we anticipating any discounts on the Switch 2 for the holidays? My 8 year old really wants one but $500 for one gift is not ideal. Plus a couple of games, controllers, etc.

I don't think there will be any discounts on the Switch 2 or the Nintendo 1st party Switch 2 games and accessories. The only "discount" is the Switch 2 console bundles with a digital copy of Mario Kart World or Pokmon Legends Z-A which costs less than buying the game separately.

The original Switch never had a price drop, but it had some Black Friday bundles with a free digital game (Mario Kart 8 Deluxe) and Nintendo Switch Online subscription.

There will be Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales on original Switch games.

Nintendo never really has price drops. I am pretty sure the Switch is still MSRP.

I am keeping an eye our for bundles.

Exactly. It's very rare to see a Nintendo product on sale. If you ever do, take advantage of it. If you go to the Nintendo shop, you can see that everything is still basically full price, even games that came out 6-8 years ago.

I wonder why they don't do the same kind of sales that Steam does. The Switch and Switch 2 are two of the best consoles for indie games, imo. They could really move a ton of games if they had more sales, more often.

In early Sept, I bought my son a Nintendo Switch 2 + Pokmon Legends: Z-A Nintendo Switch 2 Edition Bundle for his birthday and kind of forgot about it. He had changed his mind since then that, he wanted me to upgrade his PC instead, so we did it together, and I would instead just buy him a copy for his switch 1 since the PC upgrade cleaned out his budget, but I still forgot about the pre-order until last Friday.

https://www.nintendo.com/us/store/products/nintendo-switch-2-pokemon-legends-z-a-nintendo-switch-2-edition-bundle-122173/?srsltid=AfmBOoqouiCrVZVZaE0xZL1FxBKLIXyoEvUYajIWvPzhMT8dUGgiC31y

I tried to cancel my order twice, once last friday, and once on monday, but apparently it was already on the dock ready to ship.

So I have one coming tomorrow and I have no use for it.

I was planning on returning it to Nintendo for a refund, but now im seeing that it is sold out.

Does anyone want me to ship it to them instead of doing a return? I would just ask to recoup what I paid.

It was $499.99 x Texas Tax: $541.24.

PM me if so and I can ship it wherever, if you pay the cost. Else it is going back to Redmond.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER!

Just saw a sponsored cutdown vid advertising MP4.

I'm afraid the FPS genre has advanced way too much since the early 2000s when MP games were excellent. Even with the exploration elements that are unique to Metroid, MP4 still looks about 20 years too late. The reception very much feels like Halo Infinite's back when the Series X and S were releasing.

Don't see this doing well. Hope I'm wrong.

While I hope MP4 does well, the video footage does not have me super confident it will. Still a day 1 purchase for me though.

Any coworkers from your days on MP that are working on MP4, or are they mostly all doing different things now?

Pokemon Z-A is similarly a game 20 years too late. It boggles my mind we're moving backwards. I recently replayed Xenoblade Chronicles which looks better. Same system.

Metroid Dread was great however, I do have little hope for MP4. Just looks awful.
