Defense is outstanding . Offense just has that one and done stench. When the Chiefs brought the house they pretty much had no answers and it was almost as if the OL was playing by flag football rules but the rushers weren't.

And then there's the penalty aspect of the offense that seems inexplicable… like they really don't understand the presnap rules of the game

Saw this just now:

Rice and Brown exited the locker room before reporters were allowed to enter. Inside the locker room, Kelce declined to answer questions from reporters and was one of the last players to take off his uniform. He sat in front of his locker for several minutes with his hands on top of his bowed head.

If we had an offense that could move the ball at all, this defense would be in GOAT status contention.

Let's take the 2013 Seahawks and the famed Legion of Boom.
  • Defense ranks: 273.6 ypg, 14.4 ppg (both ranked 1st)
  • Offense ranks: 339 ypg and 26.1 ppg (18th and 9th respectively)
Now the Texas in 2025
  • Defense ranks: 266.3 ypg, 16.0 ppg (both rank 1st)
  • Offense ranks: 322.2 ypg, 21.8 ppg (both rank 20th)
The Seahawks in 2013 were slightly better in terms of ypg, but loads better in ppg. Imagine how much better our defense would be if our offense held on to the ball longer or converted those RZ trips into touchdowns?

Side note, how fun is our secondayr? Pitre and Bullock both 4 have INTs while Stingley and Lassiter both have 3.

If the defense is not on the field as long it is much easier to have good stats. When the offense gets 0 yards in a quarter the defense has to REALLY step up.

I guess I'm confused because this defense does have good stats regardless of how long they're on the field.

They already are an elite defensive unit regardless of what the offense does.

I mean...What else do you wanna see?

They are elite. Also, logic tells you they'd be even better statistically (how we typically judge these types of things) if they were on the field less. This isn't really rocket science.

I think the idea is if the offense were good, the defense would be viewed as an all-time great, because the overall team is great. 85 Bears, Legion of Boom, Steel Curtain, Doomsday Defense. All real good overall teams that went all the way. That's what I took the comment to mean.

Ok that makes sense.

I took the original comment as 'Man this defense could be elite if the offense was just even a little better' which is what didn't compute for me.

They ARE elite and they're doing it with a crap offense which almost tends to make them even more impressive than they are on paper.

What's also crazy is that if I'm not mistaken this offense overall ranks in the 19/20th range which means this offense is better than a 1/3 of the league.

Just by the eye test I would guess this offense is worse than that.

I still think they made a mistake at OC but seriously doubt they make a change unless the wheels completely fall going 1-3 or winless down the stretch. I think Caley will be back if we finish better than that, even if we barely miss on the playoffs.

Send $50 million to Andrew Luck and tell him to nut up.

The Colts also don't have a #1 draft pick in 26 or 27. So if they are shy about giving Jones long-time deal b/c of the injury and he walks, they are right back to Richardson as the guy.

You know the Cardinals are bad when despite the Texans' offensive woes, Houston is a 9.5 point favorite this week.

Other big games;
Charger @ Chiefs - time for the Chiefs to do us a solid and get LA to 5 losses
Bills @ Patriots - Patriots' win would also get Bills to 5 losses, and we've got the tie-breaker
Jets @ Jaguars - Probably need Jesus involved for this to go the right way
Colts @ Seahawks - Hawks can knock Indy down to 8-6 and send them on their way


Looking at the team stats on defense, the Bengals (31.8) are almost allowing twice as many points as the Texans (16.0). That's nuts. Texans are first in that category by 1.4 points over Seattle, which should make Sunday for Riley Leonard.
