Jerry and Stephan proving to the fanbase they're capable of doing deals early yet somehow still over paying relative to quality.

Big overpay

That was my initial thought but someone said that makes his the 6th highest paid CB. Based on that, maybe it's not that much of an overpay

5th in average value and 8th in total value for Bland. When healthy he is definitely worth that.

It's not an Overpay! It's exactly how you are supposed to sign your good players.

It's an extension so as far as the cap is concerned, Bland is still making rookie money. The real cap money doesn't kick in until next year, at which point at least 6-10 other starting CBs will have signed new deals at or above Bland.

By the time Bland is playing on year 2 of this deal he will be average pay for a starting vet CB. Not a bad deal for Dallas considering the guy has proven to be at worse a good CB and at best 1st All Pro.

The best part about this deal is we can use Bland however we want now that he's been paid.

He's by far our best inside/nickel CB now that Lewis is gone. But his camp let it be known this offseason that they had no desire to play inside going into his contract season because it pays less.

But he's got his outside CB money, so now his response is "whatever the team needs me to do"

Reading between the lines, but I dont think Dak is upset Micah left.

"I'm not going to say we're better. We've got to go out there and prove it. We had to prove it even if he was on this team, so I'm not going to say that by any means," Prescott said. "But I know what adding a guy like Kenny Clark, adding a true leader, a real man that's going to only elevate this team, who's been a Pro Bowl player and is excited about being here [means].

It's pretty well documented that Dak and Micah weren't best buddies. Regardless of what you think of Dak on the field he is clearly a very mature guy who is supremely dedicated to his craft and Micah, well, isn't.

I thought this was a good video and echoed a lot of my thoughts.

We will see if this changes anything long term... but everything that went down this week feels like a message has been sent to players/agents who want to play in Dallas.

Cowboys refused to bend the knee to a big time player and immediately turn around and give money to a guy who is willing to take a fair deal. Because don't kid yourself, getting traded was NOT what Micah wanted going into the offseason.

Now, let's get another "fair" deal done with Tyler Smith (who is going to reset the OG market) and let's reset the negative narrative that started with Dak's muddy contract talks.

It's not bad… he talks about possibly dumping Dak after this season though. Not sure how that would work. Obviously, with the no trade clause and then his contract in general.

I haven't heard that Jerry wants to (or even can) cut Dak after this season. But I 100% believe that the front office now considers this a make it or break it year.

If Dak has a season that leaves no doubt that he will never get it done, I do feel like they are going to try and package their picks and draft a QB.

He's your guy now Packers... Good luck. And by good luck I mean I hope your season falls apart. I'm looking forward to your 1st rounders.

Bland is a mixed bag, he has that "nose for the ball" gene and makes a ton of big plays but he's a pretty average player in coverage overall. Ultimately that's the going rate for anyone who can create that many turnovers though.

I think he's a good player to have in your secondary if you also have some guys on the outside you trust more to lock their man up on a more consistent basis.

Dude... Jeff Cavanagh has been super annoying since Micah got traded.

We get it... Micah was elite at getting QB pressures. But for the love bro... He wasn't Reggie White. The guy just won't shut up in any of his videos about how we traded a guy that was the best at 1 thing.

I use to love this stuff, but I'm about to unsubscribe. We already saw what Micah brought to the table and it wasn't good enough to get this team over the hump.

The Ticket guys have been the same way. Dogging on Micah since December but now he's Lawrence Taylor. Feels a little orchestrated.

The guy burns his body out every year. And that's as a young guy. I do think they are likely in store for 4 years of intermittent availability and effectiveness, which again is why I was on board with trading him as early as last offseason

Yes, the Ticket guys have been bad as well.

It's like they were the voices of reason for years and now, all of a sudden, paying Micah +42 million was the winning ticket.

I just don't get it.

Nobody in media wants to be an outcast voice anymore. It seems like everyone wants to go along with what other media is saying. The difference between what it feels like fans are saying about this trade and media are saying is a complete 180. It's pretty crazy.

Yes he is a great pash rusher but you can't pay a linebacker with this roster makeup $47 million. It doesn't make sense from a roster structure standpoint and that's not even touching on the fact that he's basically been a non factors the last 2 Decembers.

I am happy with the trade but it is frustrating that the reason that it doesn't make sense from a roster standpoint is entirely Jerry and Stephen's fault.

We just drafted an edge in the second round who most had a first round grade on. We also get Sam Williams back from injury who missed all last season. And in the trade we addressed our biggest position of need.

Not sure I can agree that the trade makes no sense from a roster standpoint.

I guess I worded that confusingly… I meant that signing Micah to 47mil/year doesn't make sense. So yes, I agree.. from a roster standpoint the signing of Micah doesn't make sense and the trade did.

And more so frustrated that GB's roster is built perfectly for paying him that and it doesn't feel like Jerry had a plan at all that would result in Micah being a Cowboy. And if that was the case, the timing of the trade. is pretty suspect.

Green Bay isn't paying top dollar for a receiver right now. That's pretty atypical for teams that are thought as contenders. They will be relying on Reed and Golden a lot this year in the passing game.

Not having a top end WR will probably keep them from being as good as people think they could be.

I'm starting to think that Parson's injury might be a bigger deal than either he or the Cowboys let on…

If you factor in the injury, it's quite possible that Dallas had every intention of signing him to a bigger contract, but as soon as they got a clearer picture of his injury, they balked and told him to play out his current deal, and then they would reassess his situation after the season to see if his back could hold up…. On the flip side, Parson's side may have known the injury was worse than advertised, and they didn't want to risk not getting him top $ now, knowing that if he played out this season on his current deal, and he wasn't able to stay healthy, they'd be giving up more $ in the long run…

If he is getting an injection just to get on the field for his 1st game this year, he isn't lasting the full season. Add in the weather in GB and once the cold kicks in, that thing is locking up.

Whether it continues to be a yearly issue will be interesting and wouldn't be surprising.
