Under Pete Buttigieg, the NOTAM system that alerts pilots about information like weather, airspace & runway closures BROKE DOWN - grounding planes nationwide for the first time since 9/11.
— Secretary Sean Duffy (@SecDuffy) May 12, 2026
Why? It was old & outdated. Built in 1985.
And Pete didn’t fix it.

Think it may have been Hannity but the comment was that Trump is fixing things not for political gain but to leave a legacy of fixing problems that have long been festering and pestering that people campaign on then don't fix and kick the can.
From Iran to reflecting ponds to ATC, Trump is fixing things and all the pearl clutching left and TDSers to do is tantrum about Orange Man Bad.

One of the talking heads mentioned how similar this is to the ice rink. Trump was always lauded for his work on the ice rink until something changed about a decade ago.

Biden's Inflation Reduction Act allocated $210 million dollars to "climate resiliency" projects like $3 million for "Birds Not Mosquitoes" in Hawaii and millions for projects in Denali for "cultural resources and subsistence lifeways protection", but we are to believe this fixing of a 100 year problem is Trump wasting money.

None of that is related to the renovation of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting pool. If you actually paid attention, all I have advocated for is a normal bid process.

What specifically within the rationale laid out at length in the contract award do you take exception with?
You never did concede or retort on the fact that painting was a bit more than a single coat of blue paint from Home Depot.
And you certainly had questions as well on the competency of the firm, the timelines and the increased budget.
So you are now saying it was needed, awarding it to a woman owned business with experience in the area and working with governments, is completing the project on schedule per their contract, and that the change order for increased budget seems in order.
You contention is that you have some as yet disclosed issue with the rationale they did for the no bid procurement.
Is that correct?

How does a contractor doing a job in DC do anything for Americans who will not see the reflecting pool in person any time soon?

Capitol Reflecting Pool, LIncoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, Washington Monument non reflective grass.
Keep in mind the WWII memorial sits in between the Lincoln Memorial pool and the Washington Monument.

Yes, but it's just that to me this is the iconic view.
But then you go to the other end and get this.

Never been the same since those dirty hippies swam in it in Forest Gump.

the contract is for $13.1. They have not spent $25 already. Your numbers are wrong.

Millions see it in person every year, it will be on TV near constantly as we celebrate 250 years.
Thinks that build and restore pride in Our Country and celebrate American Exceptionalism benefit all Americans.
What a biazarro take.
They also were upset about Trump bringing in the National Guard which lowered crime rates. They don't talk about it anymore because it's another win for Trump.Ag87H2O said:flown-the-coop said:twelve12twelve said:flown-the-coop said:

This is what really grates on the all the leftists losing their minds over this. Just like the new East Wing Grand Ballroom addition on the White House and the new Air Force Ones, the Reflection Pond repairs will become positive part of Trump's legacy reminding the country how much he was able to accomplish, and the Democrats cannot stand it.
Just more of their petty, immature mentality. They really are miserable people.
