This award was almost as impressive as his very real and not made up soccer peace prize.

This is a really poor pot stirring thread.

To me it would seem to count more that the awardee thinks someone was more deserving and decided as a gesture to give it to him (he tried to refuse, she insisted) and I assume its a "copy" put into a fancy frame with a flattering certificate.

Who is more able to determine a true arbiter of peace? The Norwegians voting on a coin named after the Swedish guy who invited dynamite (basis for which we measure the impact of nuclear weapons - ironic)? The Swedish foundation overseeing dynamite rich mans lasting fortune?

Or is the opposition leader in exile the one who recognizes a true peacemaker?

People laughing this gesture off as a petty stroke of Trump's ego sound pretty and frankly jealous (not directed at you or anyone in particular).

It's kinda like a celebrity being given an honorary college.

Yah, it's nice - but it's not like he was officially awarded the 'prize' (although, he clearly deserves one).

But, it's actually more fun that she gave away the prize she was awarded to someone she felt more deserving.

Or, if as it's being said on the social media, she did it so that Trump will help her replace the current ruler in VZ.

Either way, at least what she did give us a brew thread topic.

More deserving? Maybe she is really buying his support so she can take over Venezuela. She is playing him as been shown works.

Do we think he gets another after freeing Greenland and reducing drug prices by 300, 400, or even 500%?

I would love to see how he is going to reduce drug prices by 500%.

It's a largely worthless award at this point but Trump being gifted one indirectly for his efforts is far more legitimate than Obama getting one directly for being black and having potential.

Total farce.

I don't know who Patrick Joy is but he evidently shows some ability to think independently and to call out folks who cry, reee, and want to impeach anytime the 79.5 year old POTUS breaks a little wind.

Do they provide any real discussion or debate? Nah, they just swoop in to attack posters on their (misplaced?) Trump loyalty./

At the end of the day, most do NOT care a damn thing about the Nobel prize. To be honest, I think Trump gives little **** about it anyways. What this activity DOES provide is a discussion on how worthless and asinine the prizes are. It's a bunch of well connected old white socialists (aka just like our US dems) who gather to decide who gets the award based on who they want to hang out with Stockholm or Copenhagen.

Same style as Oscars, Grammys, Emmys, ESPYs, Kennedy Center Awards and even the new Trump-Kennedy Center awards.

Regardless, this thread shows even the simplest of gestures boils up the TDS inflicted to come talk about how petty (or pretty) Trump is…. By being incredibly petty themselves. Ironic.

If Jerry Rice gave me one of his rings does that mean I won the Super Bowl?

A football committee didn't decide to give Jerry Rice a Superbowl ring based on how much money he transferred from Taxpayers to the NFL which is essentially how Obama "won" his Nobel prize

It wasn't given as a gee whiz Mr. President, you are really the one who deserves this prize. It was given because Machado is buttering up Trump to give her what she actually wants, legitimacy to govern her country. And given that her party actually won the election, maybe we should hand it to friends of Democracy instead of controlling an autocratic regime puppet?

Man, it really is a thread of libs bedwetting on a lady giving Trump a gift.

Poor libs, they are soooo pathetic in their pearl clutching Trump derangement.

Then they further embarrass themselves with a collection of terrible memes.

Trump is using diplomacy and leverage to get his way. I'm sure you'd be the first to complain if Trump sent the troops in guns-a-blazing to instantly put a new democratic regime in power. It's going to take quite awhile to actually get a new government in there.

You would be wrong. I supported removing Maduro because he lacked legitimacy and because Venezuela's internal security is a domestic problem here with migration, drugs, and international bad actors. What happened after US regime change matters too, and keeping power in the hands of autocrats is a bad move. I'm going to reserve some judgment and let this play out over years instead of two media cycles, but my first observations are not charitable to US as a force for global good rather than regional hegemon.

The percentages reference actually comes from Trump. He keeps saying he is going to lower drug prices by numbers higher than 100.

Guys - Liv Ullman...LIV ULLMAN issues a bellicose warning for Trump as she accepts a lifetime achievement award at the European Film Awards ceremony
Quote:

"I'm Norwegian, we give a Nobel Prize to somebody who deserved it and suddenly that Nobel Prize is going to somebody else. It's so strange, so strange and that's why I'm happy specifically now that we have laws that say that if you misuse the Nobel Prize we take it away from you. Somebody in power in the United States may be disappointed. He will lose it… I am happy."

Republicans better hunker down and figure out how to deal with this breaking news...
