Two episodes in. Not real impressed so far. But, they've already had an incident that involved the old Train Station from Yellowstone, so maybe something interesting will happen with that.

Better or worse than Walker Texas Ranger? I watched an episode of that old show a couple of weeks ago and got a bit sentimental for older CBS shows from the 90s.

I promised myself I'd give it at least three episodes before I made a decision to keep watching it. At this point, I don't have a lot of hope. The characters, writing, plot, etc are all below average to me.

It's NCIS in Wranglers.

This is about what I expected it to be. A show where the fate of the world is on the line and the only person that can save it is an agent in the middle of Wyoming. Every week.

So it's like every other show in the Sheridanverse?

Outside of his movies, I think Mayor of Kingstown is his best work as imperfect as it may be. It's the standard against which I judge the rest.

I don't think Sheridan has much to do with this show

Network TV is far inferior in quality.

I was planning to watch it but after reading this thread, guess I won't.

Thankis for the heads up.

It kind of gets rid of both the best parts and the worst parts of Yellowstone.

Is it like a procedural/case-of-the-week type show?

I like most Sheridan fluff shows for all their faults, but that doesn't sound appealing if so.

Yes, it is. Honestly, if it was a standalone series then it would probably be better received and decent for that genre. Being a Yellowstone spinoff sets different expectations that this doesn't live up to.

Interesting enough I found the paramount+ wayyyy better than cbs. Like light-years.

Idk what it is but it's a huge difference. It's unwatchable on CBS.

The first episode was wonderful because I missed these characters. I think what kills this show is the fact that unless you watched Yellowstone, a lot of the inside stuff is lost. However I don't care for it on CBS. But I really love Kasey so I'll keep watching.

Procedurals are non-starters for me. They are so formulaic and predictable. NCIS this, NCIS that, Chicago this, Chicago that, CIA, FBI, ATF,......very unoriginal. There are so much better shows outside Network TV.

Is there a good show on Network TV that anyone would strongly recommend?

My wife and I saw the first show and felt like it could be worth continuing. Due to the HLSR, we missed the next two episodes when they aired, so yesterday we watched the second one. I seriously doubt we'll watch any more of them; it was terrible.

Sheridan is an interesting case study because his movies he's written as some of the best bangers of the past couple of decades - Hell or High Water, Wind River & Sicario. I mean he's fantastic at this neo-western stuff on the big screen.

But his TV is some of the biggest bunch of slop. I mean the contrast is incredible.

Kinda hard to wrap your head around.

Pretty straight forward if you ask me.

scenario A - man, I am starving and my kids need new shoes. No one knows me and I am going to hole up for however long it takes to write my vision.

scenario B - Here is a billion dollars, we need 72 episodes under 9 different titles in 8 months. No nudity and a diverse cast required for each franchise. go!

FWIW, his only involvement with Marshals is an EP credit. He's not writing or running the show (the guy who ran SEAL Team is running it).

From what I can find, he is going to be more involved with the Rip/Beth spinoff (Dutton Ranch).

(also this may have already been mentioned earlier in the thread - if so SIAP)

Regardless of his involvement, it's his name that's associated with this steaming pile of dung.

Not really. Yeah his shows go off the rails, but he has multiple hits are mega popular. Are they going to win an Emmy? No. But lets not pretend the content is worse than 80+% of what's out there on streaming. I may shake my head quite a bit....but I am still watching every episode of Landman, Tulsa King, Mayor of Kingstown, etc and am obviously not alone. It's fun TV to just enjoy without thinking too hard, not everything has to be Severance. Compare it to the total garbage we all loved on TV in the 80s and 90s, no shame...it's just entertainment.

What producer/director has ever really excelled at multiple movies and multiple long running TV shows? Has that ever happened?

And as mentioned, it's not like he is hands-on with everything that has his name on it - there is no way he has enough time for that. Exec Producer means essentially nothing - do we give Spielberg crap for all the Transformers sequels? Or check out Scorsese...his producer filmography is a total ****show.

That said I have zero inclination to watch Marshals.
