The late 70s were simply an awesome time to be a kid. Star Wars on the big screen. Battlestar Galactica and Buck Rogers on the small screen. Then Galactica 1980 came along and left a giant turd on all that greatness.
I loved Erin Gray on this and Silver Spoons, but if Ardala had come correct like that when I got captured, I would have defected to the Draconian Empire in about 30 seconds.
we actually had a couple of the toys from the show. I dug the guy Hawk, but they went full Star Trek that second year with the idiot admiral, the idiot doctor/scientist guy, and the C3PO nerd robot - that was hard to take.
You could do a Conan O'Brien "Walker Texas Ranger" button/lever with Buck moments and it would never get old. your witness
I forgot about Space Vampire! I must have purged that from memory because it scared the **** out of me as well.
I didn't realize until this thread that I have a friend that looks identical to Erin Gray back then. Kind of mind blowing.
Also, for anyone that wants to scratch their Buck Rogers itch, I would give Farscape a try. It's a bit older now but it's one of my favorite sci-fi shows and borrows the Buck Rogers concept to some degree.
Buck Rogers had it great in space... wall-to-wall hotties up there. I'd never go home

For the young boys, throw in a Twiki talking robot, but they knew they could also get the older boys/dads too with the hotties.
My wife became really good friends with the little person, Felix Silla, that played Twiki. He was also one of the Ewoks in ROTJ. My wife worked for an Ad agency that put on a Comic Con and she was assigned to manage him. He was a really sweet and funny guy.
