Wow…that was terrible. Like laughably bad. The CGI, the chase scene, the complete lack of necessity of the scene. I'm hoping that's just a minor miss in an otherwise fantastic final season.

I love this show to death and am so excited for it, but I really question the necessity of that scene, starting with the fact that CGI kid didn't much look like Will. Plus, where the hell was Vecna when Hopper & Joyce rescued Will at the end of Season 1? He decided he couldn't handle a fight with the small-town sheriff and a single mom?
Maybe vecna WANTED them to rescue will..

I agree. This show has shown nothing in its first four seasons to indicate that the final season will be bad. That doesn't mean it's impossible, but all this negativity seems unwarranted.

Every other post I've made on this thread is extremely positive. I thought the scene was a unnecessary addition. I think the final season will be amazing, and I'm more hyped for it than any final season of any show I've ever watched, save maybe The Shield.
Lumping everyone into "Ya'll are a beating" isn't a very accurate statement.

I rewatched episode one from season four yesterday… What a tremendous head fake for their introduction as they kept you guessing of what was really going on and making you think 11 killed everyone
All indications are that they did not mail it in so I'm expecting a great close to the series, including some serious peril and major character deaths

My daughter - who has transformed into the most obsessive Stranger Things fan of all time - and I were at Target on the weekend and got a look at the S5 soundtrack with some interesting tracks including:

Also leaning towards an ultra-heroic Steve death. They have to resolve the love triangle somehow and a death is the cleanest solution.

I can't imagine that they kill off a second of Dustin's brother figures. They've already hit that note with Eddie. Would seem like overkill to do it again.
We already see that Nancy is falling out of love with Jonathan and clearly is being pushed back towards Steve (remember the conversation her and Robin had after Steve dove in after her) as she recognizes the man he has become. Jonathan, otoh, turned into a burnout with no direction. I think thematically it also makes more sense for Jonathan to end up dying while saving Will, as he is constantly blaming himself for not doing more to protect or save him. I think Jonathan's primary role in the entire series is being Will's protector.
I don't think Will can die at this point given the amount of grief and hardship he has gone through compared to everyone else. It would be too cruel to end with him dying, imo.
I honestly think the core younger "kids" all make it out alive. Although, I could see Eleven possibly dying heroically, but I have the same issue I have with killing off Will with her. I could also see Max surviving as Eleven or Will frees her soul/mind from Vecna, or Max potentially saving everyone else, sacrificing herself leaving her body braindead.
My prediction is Jonathan and Murray (non-essential) bite the bullet. Max I'm 50/50 on. I think Hopper, Joyce, Steve, Nancy, and Will have the highest probability of survival. Would be silly to go down the "Hopper is dead, but forreal this time" route. And between Joyce or Jonathan, they can't kill both, the latter is much more likely to die given he has become so non-influential to the entire story. The rest of the kids I'd put at around a 10% chance of death except for Eleven who I'd put more at 30-40%.
I think Robin and long haired dude (is he even in this season?), are both at around 50/50 chance of death given they are non-essential characters.
That all being said, I think that in order for this series to really be transcendent, the need to take a risk, and that means killing off a beloved or tragic character. I think the only ones that are really loved like that are Hopper, Dustin, Steve, Eleven, or Will. IMO, they probably need to kill off one of those characters and I think Eleven is probably the most likely then maybe Dustin after her.

I can't stop thinking about the link between Will and Vecna, whatever it turns out to be, like way the upside down stopped the night that Will disappeared, and how they've been connected ever since. I think Mike is going get killed, and it will turn Will in a bad way.

Sorry if this is a question with an obvious answer, but with such a long time between seasons I forgot a lot. Therefore, I'm almost done with a rewatch, and I'm curious where the thought comes from that the upside down is stuck in the year 1983 and time travel will come into play?

They've already hit that note with Eddie
Recently went through the series for the first time. I really came to love Eddie and his character. Bummed he didn't make it but was obvious what was going to happen.
On a related note, my wife and I went to the FWSO "Rewind of the 80s" show a couple weekends ago and I kept telling her that I wish Eddie was on the electric guitar.

Will is going to have "powers", equal to or greater than 11. He will be the one to defeat Vecna and restore balance between the surface world and the upside down.
Don't know how it will all play out....but I am convinced that he will play a critical role, if not the defining role in beating Vecna.
Its been setting this up from season 1, Will always feeling "different". The only difference between him and 11 is that Papa didn't train him. So his powers are untapped.

I've only seen one clip of the new season and it was that one where 25 year old 11 is doing an obstacle course and it looks just so incredibly bad. There are something like 30 cuts in it in a minute and a half, she is so incredibly unathletic (hence the cuts) and is grunting like a tennis player every time she moves.
Wife and I will still watch it, but that scene just looked terrible.

Feels like it has to be 11. Would be the most poignant death and would make the most sense, thematically (she was the one that opened the portal to the upside down, she sacrifices herself to close it for good).
