Long time lurker here. Taylor do you know if the Ags are looking at Ethan Locke out of Valor Academy in Waco? Distance runner graduates next May but putting up some impressive times already. He just ran the 5000m at the Nike HS Nationals in Oregon and finished second with a time of 14:05:06. He beat Aggie Commit Chapa by 19 second in that race. He is not your typical private/small school runner. He runs from the front at every meet and has zero competition until he runs in big meets like nationals. Seems to have a very high ceiling. He wants to be an engineer as well. Seems like a good fit.

Would love to see this kid in maroon eventually.

I would absolutely hope so! Those times are very impressive and I'm sure many schools should be going after him! With the roster caps and is only having 1 senior on the roster this next season, I'm sure we'll target a very small class, probably 1 or 2 guys!! So we'll only go after the heat be very selective

Arrington is on his official visit this weekend. In one of his photo shoots he is wearing a track uniform and holding the championship trophy.

I'd say that's a good sign he is planning on running track also.

The plan is to stay there thru May of 26 to graduate, then much to his mother's dismay, probably moving to Seattle to work towards 2028...

On the men's side we have a freshman in Stefon Dodoo who has a 1:49 best and a freshman Sophia Bendet who's gone 2:04, but she's a better miler. Nothing else in the portal so far

Yeah it'll be interesting! He graduates in 2027 so he'll have to decide if he wants to train collegiately in 2028 leading up to the Olympics trials or go straight to the pro ranks after graduation and train for that! It'll be interesting if a college can persuade him to train under them

I've been waiting for that announcement also lol! I assumed she's enter as well… I know she's enjoyed her time at Tarleton and she seems happy there! But I'm sure the big dawgs are calling and trying to pry her away, and we better be one of them! She'd be the top prize, but we've landed some nice sprinters and I think our 4x100 has a chance to win that relay next year!

3.8 million in job cuts coming to athletic staff? That's gonna hurt especially since the much of the bloat at the top has already been trimmed previously. (After further review, it does appear the previous cuts are included which probably cuts that number in half).

This is the elephant in the room issue with paying athletes. Level of service around all sports is about to take a major hit and the athletes (and coaches!) are going to expect the same as before while getting paid.

Been trying to understand what was mentioned about Auhmad and his eligibility. The standard NCAA(not including exceptions) was you had 5 consecutive years to utilize 4 years of eligibility. He has done that:
2025 indoor/outdoor
2024 indoor/outdoor
2023 indoor/outdoor
2022 indoor/outdoor (redshirt entire year)
2021 indoor(only 3 meets/ outdoor 8 meets); *this was the 2020-2021 school year.

It seems he may have qualified for that NCAA additional year due to Covid 2020-2021 season:

  • COVID-19 waiver:
    The NCAA granted an extra year of eligibility to athletes who competed during the 2020-21 season due to the pandemic.
This could then mean 2020 matriculants would have the option for 6 years to utilize 5 years of eligibility. So some clarification is needed to know whether it was granted and if he accepted or if it's not required to be accepted through signed paperwork. So it seems there may be a possibility that the choice is already available to Auhmad if he desires and things can be worked out with Henry and the track team. That would be glorious!! Corrections?

Outdoor 2020 (which never happened) and Indoor 2021 (which did) are treated like they never happened.

Because of this, yes, if you competed in Indoor 2021, yes you would get five years of eligibility. There is no world where you get five years of eligibility outdoors.

I noticed also on 12th man that Ja'Qualon is list as a junion(2025) having been listed as competing in
2025, 2024, and 2023(his prior school as a freshman). Did he graduate early and/or does this mean he has another year of eligibility? Does this mean if he hasn't signed a pro contract that we could have him back next year?

He graduated high school in 2020. Not competing in college in 2021 or 2022 might be an issue. You still have five years to get your four in. I guess it's possible he could still have that Indoor 2021 season due to NCAA declaring it null, much like Robinson.

I looked on the A&M-Kingsville site and looks like he was on their roster in 22 but didn't compete (at least in the few meets I checked). So that would be a redshirt year. Doesn't look like he ran anywhere in 21 after finishing high school in 20. Assume with COVID going in fall of 20 he just didn't enroll anywhere. So he should have 1 more year.

Wow! Our newest Aggie David Foster competed in the ATX Sprint Classic and ran a 10.08 in the prelims (taking down Tyreek Hill and many other pros) then went on to run a a lifetime all conditions best of 9.95 in the final!
