After a successful, very successful season! We may still be sipping champagne and while there still may be confetti coming out of our hair, it's time we look to next year to see who will be joining the Aggie Track and Field family. The road to back to back titles for the men has already begun, as well as the road for improving on our 3rd place season and winning the title on the women's side.

It is still very very early in the process, we'll see more movement all summer long and even into the fall. With roster limits, NIL, and more, the transfer portal in track and field is one of the most active in the NCAA. For our men, many would be expecting to rebuild, but with the portal, you can just reload to what you're bringing back. Our women return a lot, so we can look to add some big pieces to strengthen the roster. At this point I'm more confident in our women's roster, but we'll see how the summer goes.

In the last recruiting thread, I ended it with a way too early look at what our rosters bring back next year. This thread will be to discuss and highlight the additions to our 2026 roster as well as 2026 high school recruits we may add! International Athletes, Transfer Portal, JUCO, High School, can't wait to see what the future of Texas A&M Track and Field holds!!

Some key dates
July 6, 2025: Opt-in schools must "designate" student-athletes permitted by the settlement to remain above roster limits
Start of 2025 26 Academic Year: With the exception of the "designated" student-athletes, fall sports must be at or below roster limits by their first day of competition
Dec. 1, 2025: With the exception of "designated" student-athletes, winter and spring sports must be at or below roster limits by their first day of competition or Dec. 1, whichever is earlier

There are going to be 2 types of portal additions those that are non-DSAs and DSAs. DSAs, Designated Student Athletes, are student-athletes that were "cut". Non-DSAs will count against the roster limit and DSAs will not count against the roster limit.

Filling out the CC roster will begin the roster construction. I don't expect any DSAs will be point scorers at nationals, but you never know.

Women's CC Roster from last year with Srs removed. There are 19 ladies with no Cherono and no recruits/transfers. We need to get down to at most 17. We can carry more distance runners that don't run CC, but that takes away spots from sprints and jumps or we could carry less and add more to the T&F roster.

Guess a way around this is only having some distance runners on the cross country roster but not track and field roster. We added 3 women distance runners from the high school ranks and Cherono. So I'm sure we'll see some roster movement there. On the men's side we added 2 high school recruits and 1 transfer in Youssef Asslouj.

Cross country will definite impacted by this move. Wonder how it all plays out

Maybe he wants to come redeem himself indoors and race better individually in the 400! However, I don't see him coming back, we'll see how he races this summer at USA meets, but I'm sure he's gonna have to step it up a bit more and be better consistently.

But to go after another team title he'll need some help, but we have some solid pieces. Hopefully we're making some big moves soon! Not an entirely dominant squad as of now, but we could expect scoring from Aleksandr Solovev (maybe guaranteed scoring from him lol) in the pole vault, Hossam Hatib and Michael Francois in the 400. David Foster in the 60, Etoro Bassey in the high jump and possibly a long jumper or triple jumper.

But with so many departures we'll have so many scholarships to possibly give. This time last year we didn't have Solovev, Hatib, Antonie Nortje, Luca Santorum, and others. A couple impact transfers and we could be in business for an indoor title.

Curious if you listened to the interview? Didn't come across that way to me...sounded like he had another full year if he wants it and said he was gonna be recruiting hard to help put together a monster roster.

Jerome Campbell just completed an official visit to Aggieland! He has a 110 hurdle best of 13.23! I know Ja'Qualon was publicly reaching out to Jerome Campbell to transfer over here. I'd assume Scott and Connor Schulman would be enticing as training partners. He also has sprinting bests of 10.12 and 20.71 in the 100/200 and a 6.66 in the 60. Would be a huge leg for us in the sprint relay and a potential national scorer for us in the hurdles…

3 Georgia sprinters enter the portal, although they're brining in lots of talent, they seem to lose many last offseason as well. Hossam Hatib was from Georgia as well!

He's competed in four NCAA Championship meets outdoors -- one for SFA and three for us. You don't get more than that (unless something super out-of-the-ordinary happens like the NCAA deems an entire athletic season void from an eligibility standpoint -- like they did for Indoor 2021).

We will have plenty of scholarships available regardless of departures -- we are going from 12.6 to 45 I believe. LOTS of money to throw around. Now we just have to go out and get the kids.

I would assume we are, but has anyone seen that we are actually going to use all 45 ? I have seen even at DI level, some schools will not be using the max. I have a daughter starting D2 track in the fall, I wish D2 would follow, very partial scholarships for the majority of her team.

I don't know if he is going to run, but he has wind legal 10.21/20.35/46.51 and an indoor 6.67.
