Survive and advance is the mantra, but on Friday Texas A&M did much more than that. Swimming in a sea of upsets, the Aggies shook off a slow start and pasted Green Bay to move on to the second round. In the process, they learned something else about themselves.

1. First game jitters: Texas A&M started the game by turning the ball over nine times in the first eight minutes. Finding themselves down 20-14, the Aggies calmed their nerves and took control of the game, one steal at a time.

For the remaining 12 minutes of the first half, A&M racked up four steals and forced three turnovers to take an eight-point lead into the break.
