As we know, volleyball is a sport where athletes commit 2 years before they graduate, in the summer before their junior year. Right now our 2027 class is ranked 3rd in the country with only 3 commits. That class includes the number one setter and player in the country Sophee Peterson, a top ten pin hitter in Isabel Incinelli, and a powerful and athletic middle blocker Braelyn Patton. June 15th is when these 2028 athletes can "officially" talk to schools. However they have been and are able to attend camps before this date and many have taken unofficial visits. Quickly after the 15th many will commit. The state of Texas is loaded with talent in this class, more so than other years.

One thing to follow is if the 5 in 5 rule passes where college athletes will have 5 years to play. As of now, we have 2 seniors on the roster and for one (Natalie Ring) this will already be her 5th year. The roster max is 18 and we currently have 16 on the roster for 2026 and 3 2027 recruits. I'm expecting another smaller class, with a few highly ranked players. This will be our first class of commits deciding on us after we won a national championship. Can't wait to see who joins our program!

We most likely won't need a setter with Peterson coming in for the 2027 year. We will have plenty of middles as the 4 on our roster are underclassmen. We will need some pin hitters! I'm interested to see what we go after

Kirra Musgrove's sister Addison Musgrove is a top setter who's just outside the top ten.

Excited to see who we will land! Hopefully some big names who can make an impact immediately.

Camps began yesterday and will continue all this month and July! We'll see which big name prospects are in attendance this coming week!

In this YouTube clip of TAV's 16 team that features Maya Ogbogu and Sarah Floyd, some fans on volleytalk that Jamie Morrison was sitting courtside next to the parents of the team lol also a couple points in an errant volleyball rolls onto the court which Morrison picks up and throws it back across and it hits a lady on the opposite scorers table on the head lmao

Ogbogu and Floyd are priority targets and shine in that clip, but playing up on that team is 2029 MC Crutcher. Her highlights are absolutely insane and her serve is crazy. Her and the world famous Kari Knotts class of 2029 will both be the entire countries main targets next year.

Knotts was 14 and the mvp of the U19 Pan American Cup. Sophee Peterson our 2027 setter commit and Knotts were the two choices for every publications national player of the year with both winning different ones. Insane!

We certainly do know that, its Texags, we know stuff.. HOWEVER, for my non Texags friends who may not understand, can you please elaborate? Why 2 years before? thats a rule or just basically what happens?

As I understand it the culture of volleyball recruiting is that commitments are binding both ways, so you basically never see decommits/pulled scholarship offers.

Is it possible we lose Ogbogu to tu? She was recently at a longhorn camp along with a lot of other top recruits

Yeah with little roster spots, athletes want to lock in on a coveted spot early on!

With 16 currently on the roster, and only one grad student and 3 from the class of 2027. I don't know how big this 2028 class will be. I'm sure there will be attrition as well, but I don't see us adding more than 3 possibly

They talked about camps on TexAgs radio when Coach Morrison was on that we are having an elite camp this weekend after t.u's and the top elite prospects, including Ogbogu are expected to be there. Kay said the elite teams/players kind of travel in groups to these camps. She said they were all at Wisconsin, then t.u. and will be at A&M.

Okay makes sense thank you, I probably missed that on the episode. Excited for 6/15!

I wonder if we got these elite groups visiting in the past. I assume they all camp together at the big dogs. Probably Nebraska next or some such. Hopefully we are in the regular rotation from here on out!
