zero risk in this… zero….. he's our best pitcher, see how much you can get out of him, we don't know.. only way to know is start him.. we know what everyone else would do starting (we'd be down 3-5 runs in a couple innings).. zero risk in this

I don't see how there's zero risk in this. Relievers aren't really used to just jumping over to start.

Ask your best to step up. I like it! Whether it works or not it's the right call imo.

I have much more hope in Fresh doing something he hasn't done before but executing at a high level than I do asking someone who has done this but hasn't been great (or even good in some cases).

There's plenty of risk. If he has a bad start (he's not a starter), then we're toast having to piece together 5-7 innings. And we absolutely do not know what everyone else would do starting. Hunter Vincent has done well lately and has never started.

I agree. And I think if you give Shane the choice he would love to get in there, I just don't know if he can handle it right now.

I love the kid, though, and I hope if he does get to throw then he straight shoves.

Plan is for freshcorn to gets 0s across multiple frames and our bats to grab the early lead and thus put the pressure on USC. But it will get dicey once he is done.

I would not have announced anything. Also IMHO I don't like him starting. All staff will be ready to go ASAP. I would have gone with a starter with a plan to go to the BP in 2nd if need be.

But we'll see. We probably need to score 10+ to win anyway.

SC has shown to have the superior offense in this regional tournament so I don't like our chances but will be happy to be proven wrong.
