No he didn't. Watch the zoomed out replay. Caden and the 1b coach are screaming at him to go back to second. He takes 4 more steps towards first then stops and slowly turns around.

At the end of the day it doesn't matter, though. But had it actually been a drop after contact with the wall pretty inexcusable to be thrown out.
