Two things I'd change for the Regionals…

1 seed is home every game. They've earned it. Reward them.

Institute some type of run rule. Playing 3-5 games in 3 days makes it too dangerous for all the teams. If you're down 10 after 7. Call it. Seeing games in the high teens and 20s just puts more arms at risk.

Completely disagree on the run rule. But I agree the 1 seed should be the home team in any winners bracket game.

I'd take it a step further. The host team should be able to use their full assortment of sounds, songs, etc.
Earning a regional/super host should mean you earn the full home field advantage, not some sterile half-ass environment

I dislike the home team thing too... but when you look at it from the perspective of it is an NCAA event and the host is the location, not the school, it makes a little more sense. For example, BBP is hosting the regional competition, not Texas A&M, so the NCAA postseason rules (including songs, ads, etc.) take precedence.

I would do away with run rules completely, regular and post season. I like seeing runs scored and lesser pitchers being used. If it ends 35-2 or whatever, it's still fun.

Run rules should only be for regular season travel days (like Sundays and Tuesdays). That's it.

In baseball you're supposed to get 27 outs to win

Of course we are assuming that all teams earned their seeds…given the committee history it might be fair to sonewhat level the field other than the travel advantage

UNC has much better starting pitching than we do. But they also only trust about 2-3 bullpen arms. So we could make some noise.

I agree. This is it for many of these teams for the year in the regionals and I think they should be allowed to play to the end. Yes, it can be a little tedious for some of these high-scoring games, but I think they should be given a chance. Sometimes weird stuff happens.
I don’t get enough credit for the things I manage not to say.

Very very rarely is a 1 seed less deserving than one of the lower seeds in their regional

Wouldn't object too much to a mutually agreed upon run rule decided during the course of the game. In other words if a team is getting shellacked and has lost confidence and they want to quit after 7 and the winning team agrees then a game could be called. But I'm a merciful kind of guy and don't mind giving losers an easy out.

No a committee decided who 1-16 is
And for seeds 9 10 11 letting the 6 7 8 have maximum Home field advantage for a playoff series is IMO not appropriate

The host is NOT the location since if it were, A&M/BBP would host EVERY year. It would be easy for us to turn in a top 16 host package to the NCAA regardless of whether our team makes the regional or not, or whether we'd legitimately be a national seed.

You can call it the location if you want, but the team at home of that location is the reason it is there.
