We talk a lot about Jordan and Duer struggles. I'd be very tempted to sit Kellner, Royo to SS and Chestnut to 2B. Chestnut speed can create chaos and get an offense started when struggling. Only downside is you lose the ability to insert Chestnut anywhere in the lineup when a bunt is needed like last night. Farr to 2B would be another option. I just think Kellner is still not himself after that injury.

I don't hate this. Kellner had hit a wall even before the injury. Love the kid but we need more out of the bottom of the lineup right now.

Those are viable alternatives, but it is obvious to me that Earley makes promises to certain recruits. Royo should have gotten some opportunities earlier in the year, but then the comparison might have become obvious. Kellner is a very average player at this point in his career. I know he is injured, but he wasn't playing that much better before the injury. Getting walks is Kellner's biggest asset.

I love the kid, but his arm strength and quickness is very average (not good for a SS) and constantly makes bad throws to 1st base. Definitely a position that we could upgrade at.

Before the injury his OBP was high which is all you can ask from the 9 hole. The dropped pop up (vs Auburn) was telling to me that his eye was still not quite ready. Maybe it's just a struggle with the mask, which I can't blame him for, I wouldn't want anything around my eyes to field or hit.

I do agree about promises must be getting made. Otherwise Duer would not still be hitting cleanup…

Do you actually think the head coach is open to sitting Wilson, Keller or Duer?

Harco could probably play at second. But keeping him at DH allows so called promises as you inferred to be kept.

Nope, otherwise if not even willing to move Duer to the bottom 1/3 of the lineup. I don't believe he'd be willing to sit any of them…

His interviews in the past month have at times been very defensive at him justifying them playing.

Next year is going to be very interesting with the majority of the batting lineup talent gone.

We see how the pitching has gone this season after we lost tons of talent.

lol I said the same thing about this interviews being defensive fo them a few weeks ago and got hammered on here. Glad to see there's some realism on here. I agree.

That's typically a sign a coach is making choices for the wrong reasons.

I don't know how you begin to replace the hitting power of our top 3 batters.

Yep. One year ago they were playing maybe 30 7-inning games and little travel.

Now, they are playing 40 9-inning games and LOTD of travel.
