Any time you get in the "transition" zone -- where growing grass, even cool season grass, early in the year is tough -- you almost have to be a little more tolerant of turf. Lexington could probably get away with cool season grass the still late in the baseball season, but Knoxville can't. The transition to bermuda in, say, late April or early May would be rough.
Now, t.u. doesn't have the same excuse. They're just downright lazy and pretty much have been for decades.
