Could we get the Savanna Banana's at Olsen?

Auburn is doing it:

https://247sports.com/college/auburn/article/auburn-will-face-the-savannah-bananas-in-an-exhibition-game-this-fall-253333801/

I have to say that this is pretty innovative and a pretty cool thing to try. Imagine Harlem Globetrotters, but with baseball bats. It is a fun night at the park.

Another cool idea would be to bring in Cosmic Baseball, which plays at night under UV lights. My nephew works for them, and they have a great time.

I would think that this would be a lot of fun, and get some attention. The bad new is that you don't get to warm up against another college team. On the other hand, if you are Early, you could probably talk the Banana's into doing some interesting stuff to focus on doing during the game to work on specific issues on the A&M team. Make sure certain pitchers throw certain stuff, but don't tell the team its coming. Or try to get someone to steal home unawares or some-such.

We could even do this in Houston or Arlington and probably get a huge crowd.

If A&M did this, I would make an effort to go.
It takes a special kind of brainwashed useful idiot to politically defend government fraud, waste, and abuse.

we probable could, but we shouldn't. But i don't think it'll help this team prepare for the season. There is a lot on the line

Play the game at Kyle and you probably got something similar to George Strait honestly

It wouldn't impact preparation one iota.

Banana ball at Olsen, yes please? Sign me up for the waitlist. Seeing the bananas in person is always going to be one of my top 5 experiences i got to do from travel nursing. (I watch it with my mom.)

However, I think Olsen would have to go through a lot of renovations before hosting the bananas, and Aggie alley would have to be ticketed. But I would love to see a Tailgators vs Firefighters at Olsen someday.

Purist baseball people killed public interest in baseball. Give the Bananas some love.

I guess i don't see how playing a circus game helps you prepare for the season. I would think this team had enough of ****ing off in the offseason last year.

Yes, but they also play colleges in exhibitions

Where did i say they NEVER goof around. I'm saying there where reports of players not really working out or participating in last fall practices. I just hope they prepare better this fall than last.

If we did bring in the SB, i think they'd do it a Kyle and probable sell out and make a ton of money over a scrimmage at Olsen

I don't think it would have to go through any renovations. Clemson played the Bananas last year and Auburn is going to do it this year. They are similarly-sized college stadiums. I reckon it would be a ticketed event, though, unlike other fall exhibitions, and they might give season ticket holders first shot at their seats. Then sell tickets in priority points order.

I personally think a little less tightness would have tremendously helped last season.

well this would be in the fall, I'm not sure playing a circus game in the fall would help playing tight in March.

again reports where that fall practice last year was very loose and that didn't really pay off so i'd try the opposite.

And again, if you could get the SB here, play it in Kyle so you can make a ton of money and maybe put that back into the program or stadium

Clemson played this year in their football stadium and it was packed. Now maybe they did an exhibition last fall in their baseball stadium.

When they play at college stadiums tickets aren't through the school. Its through the bananas website site or secondary market so being a season ticket holder would not effect ticket access.

I wasn't talking about the one this spring. That one didn't involve the Bananas playing the Tigers. The fall exhibition vs. the Tigers last year was in their baseball stadium.

I'm not sure you're going to find a major college football program willing to turn their football field into a baseball field during football season.

we won't do anything at Kyle during football season. I'm talking about the spring. That would sell out Kyle most likely, esp if that's the only time that crew comes to Texas.

If the Aggies play an exhibition against the Bananas, it would have to be in the fall.

We might be talking about different things here. The initial post is about having the Bananas come to face the Aggies at Olsen the way they are going to be playing against Auburn at Plainsman Park this fall.

There is someone in CS that has several connections with the Bananas and brings several of them for boys tournaments every year. Sure for the right price they would come to Kyle.

I would not want to use one of our two fall game dates on a Bananas game. However, I could see hosting a Bananas game (against one of their stock opponents) at Kyle Field, ideally on a spring weekend where we are not playing at Olsen.

I think that's what beedrill is getting at. Skip the expo college game.

Host SB cs Tailgaters at Kyle in spring. Raise money to pay of Jimbo

40% of their ticket-buyers were from out-of-state recently at their soldout games in Denver.. and overall there they had 150k people attempt to get tickets for what was two games that could seat 50k people per game. Thought they do a lottery system but idk.

Its a lottery system for tickets sold by them. I got picked for Albuquerque this summer, but i was too far down the list to actually get the chance to buy tickets before they sold out. I'm still on the global waitlist (it was in the 40Ks when I initially signed up a few years ago). When I initially started looking at secondary market tickets when the were in Salt Lake 2 years ago, tickets ranged from about 200 in the SRO outfield to 1200 behind the plate. The ticket i eventually bought was listed at 600 and I ended up paying 200 before fees for first deck about 10 rows up behind the 1st base dugout.

Not ideal to do it on a home baseball weekend, but you can't say no to the money we get from renting out Kyle. Had to do it after the football spring game. My guess is we play Auburn at Olsen a little earlier than normal for a Saturday (maybe noon or 1:00 instead of 2:00) so as to permit maximum available parking for the Bananas game at night.
