What the deal now with 3 seconds and traveling

Its in the rule book. Why aren't the refs calling it? Guys sit in the lane now for 4-5 seconds constantly. In today's game there was probably 5 or 6 traveling calls that should have been made

In a game this week, a Duke big man took a pass off of a pick and roll, took 4 steps with no dribble and slammed it. Nothing called. A-hole commentators were talking about what they had to eat the night before and never mentioned it.

Its the stupid NCAA ruining the game by favoring offense......as if we college basketball fans want the game to more closely resemble the NBA.

I for one dont. Haven't watched the NBA for more than 10 minutes at a time since 2005. Its awful "basketball".

Yep. Was watching the have with my father in law yesterday and he hadn't watched college basketball in a number of years but the first two comments he made were why don't they ever call traveling and 3 seconds?

To be honest, I can't remember the last time I saw a 3 second violation called

It's probably been over a decade

Basketball isn't the same game. Double dribble, traveling and 3 second violations have been sacrificed for more excitement. Most of these player have no idea how to play real basketball.

Traveling is almost bad as NBA now.

Two steps just isn't for a layups anymore.

Two steps to pass,
Two steps to take a step back 3,
Two steps then stop, head fake, take another step, then shoot.

It is pretty ridiculous to anyone who watched basketball prior to 2010.

Also, I would say most point guards would be called for carrying the ball 90% of the time as well. With their side of ball dribbling.

Wade in G league, 4 steps after the last dribble.

No call..

Not picking on Wade, glad he is doing well, just remembered this from Luke the other day and proves the point that traveling just isn't called anymore.

The reason I bring it up is we are undersized. Teams with bigger guys are camping in the lane for 4 or 5 sec

No 3 second calls started in the NBA to give Shaq the ability to stay in the league. He camped in the lane then got a pass. He then threw an elbow then dunked or laid it over the rim.
If any defender tried to hold their position they were called for a foul.

The thing with travelling is that the modern game is so worried about upper body contact that it's hard for officials to watch for it. As long as you don't look weird doing something it's rarely called. I think we see more things that actually aren't travels called travels because something looks weird than we do actual travels.

At the end of the game the point guard for Vandy traveled so badly I don't know how they didn't call it. Right before he mixed it up with Frediricco . You notice the announcers on the SEC channel never call out the refs. It can be so blantant and they refuse to acknowledge it

As a catch and shoot guy in hs, would have loved the capability to catch ball, takeoff, land, and then go back up to shoot a 3 without a dribble.

I actually think this is a bigger issue currently than traveling. Especially when they let players pull the ball up like they're going to shoot it and then right before their other hand touches it they turn it all the way back over and start dribbling. Practically impossible to defend.
