It seems to me that teams are not going to let Dominguez beat them and have someone trying to find out what flavor gum he is chewing.

I don't think we are going to see much of Federiko going forward. The fact he played a 6 total minutes in the last 4 games, when we have played teams with size, I think shows Bucky doesn't trust him out there anymore.

Did I imagine it, or did get McDermott get into the game before Federiko last night? I think it was just for one possession. He checked in to rebound on a FT attempt. But I don't see him on the box score. Maybe because he played less than one minute.

McDermott was in for some 20 seconds. I think Mizzou was inbounding the ball when he came in.

You didn't imagine it. He was on the court for a short time early in the game .

As far as OP's point, you can't have a consistent team if you are dependent on one guy because it's too easy to knock one guy off his game . I don't think we really depend on Dominguez but it can really get things moving in the right direction early if you get him open looks and he cans them . You have to expect opponents to focus on him and you have to have a plan to counter it as well and I think we do.

Are we sure Domiquiz is that good? I mean why is he at Texas A&M and not somewhere else. . I am not saying he is bad but he is definitely limited athletically . Good teams will take him away. You can count on that going forward . Let's understand that and accept it

He's good at what he's good at. If you're expecting Dominguez to battle on the low block or be a high level defender then you're asking him to do too much.

Though "if he's here, he must not be very good" is a classic thing for you to say

He's really good at one thing, shooting open jump shots from three which is important for this system. He can potentially get better at other aspects of his game but as you pointed out he's got his limits athletically. If I were to pick a few areas for him to improve at they'd be staying in front of a dribbler at the perimeter on defense and pump faking the outside shot so he can penetrate on offense . The latter wouldn't be so much about finishing at the rim although that would be good but also dishing to someone for ball movement purposes.

I think him penetrating is a waste of time tbh. He needs to speed up his shot, but the thing is he's only ever really going to be as good as our ability to make the defense double team someone. Whether it's a better post man that draws doubles or a driver that the defense has to help on, either would work, but against good teams we haven't forced help so they can take him away.

I agree he's not going to be a great finish at the rim guy but it would get defenders rotating and promote better ball movement. If you show you can they might back off covering him so tightly on the perimeter as well.

I am also fine with him pulling up from what you might call the short midrange this season.

But against high level teams he's always basically only going to be as good as our ability to make defense's help and right now most of them aren't going to.

You'd rather stick to Griffin to Dominguez and see if everyone else can beat you rather than let them get going. Griffin is more athletic and has a quicker tricker than Dominguez so he's been able to find more ways to score lately, but otherwise everything we're saying about Dominguez also applies to Griffin.

Like if Marcus Hill could shoot threes people would be amazed at how much that would open up everything else, but defenses don't really have to guard him on the perimeter.

Bobinator how is Dominquez doing so far. I am not trying to be a d--k but who ever said he was good? He can shoot. That's it. He has to work so hard with limited athleticism to get open that he wears him down. They play better defense in the states than they do overseas.

The stats say he's good. Has been all season. But again, he can't go out there and create space for himself. He's a spot shooter.

Steve Kerr wasn't good because he could break down a defense, he was good because he had players around him that could and then he did his role and hit open shots.

Dominguez is that type of player, he's only as good as our ability to get him open. And we don't have anyone that can consistently drive the ball to the basket or post up on the block and draw doubles against high level teams.

Most of Dominguez's best games are either against bad teams or teams where they have to start doubling Agee.

Agree … Next year if we get a few good inside players that will help. . There is not enough penetration from our guards except for hill. Lane looks to hesitant
