Shooting was the issue. We couldn't shoot in the second half. Dominguez and pop airballing 3s is a killer. Griffin bricking two open 3s is a killer. Yes the defense sucked.

When we play a team like Mizzouri, I think Vinson might help a little by giving us another guy along with Agee that can defend a little bit against the rangier athletic guards. Increasing his minutes at the expense of Dominguez and Issacs is something I would try.

For it to be effective though, Vinson has to have an upward trajectory in his play. He's got to get mentally organized around the fact that we need him to play defense and rebound the ball.

We're had that tangent on another thread last week about whether having either Solo or Payne on this roster would be beneficial. I think this game is exhibit A on how Washington would have made this team meaningfully better. We badly missed a second presence on the court (to help Agee) that could mitigate the athletic disadvantage, match up defensively and help on the defensive boards.

That TO definitely hurt especially after a hard fought defensive stop....

I get that, but we just don't have a lot of options.

Other than Lane and Agee, who on this team doesn't have failings or make a bad turnover every once in a while?

Clemence and Hill have been good the last several games, but they've had their issues too up to this point.

At least Vinson is close to being athletically on par with some of these rangier guys that are huge mismatches for most of the rest of our roster.

It's also hard to win when 2 of your last 3 games the refs don't call the opponents first foul until 4 min left in the first half.

To be fair. Tonight we almost didn't give the refs a chance to call a foul on Mizzou in the first half. We were so good offensively, we were making a 3 or hitting a cutter for an undefended layup.

There were 3-4 egregious push offs in the first half alone. But yes, we pretty much avoided the paint. Still, this is basketball. With a team in Missouri who refuses to get set on screens and is very handsy. Going to the 4 minute mark without fouling is absurd no matter how the game is played.

We all wondered about Dominguez's athleticism and whether his game would transition to the SEC part of the schedule. Seemed like it did initially but he's now stuggling with the tougher competition. Wonder if we're at a "tipping point." Looking at minutes played, Zach got some of his time tonight. Will be interesting to see if that trend continues.

what's weird is his three is a set shot so you'd think free throws would be gimmes, but I guess it's a mental thing

Missing layups and put backs at the rim drive me FRIKKIN CRAZY.

Bucky has stated multiple times that minutes played in a game is dictated by who has the hot hand. It could be any given guy on any given night taking another guys minutes.

If we cant stop them in the paint let's at least make them beat us from 3 instead of 2 and 3 footers around the basket.

We have to have one of the worst shooting percentages in the paint. Seems like we miss a lot of shots close to the basket.

Yeah, but even in the first half it took an unrealistic shooting performance just to keep us in the game

They were killing us on the glass and inside

We the shooting performance we had in the first half we should have had a double digit lead going into halftime

Dibba's two missed ft's were huge when the game is close you cant miss ft's in the last 5 minutes of a game. He has his moments but he is so weak going to the basket and he cant make a dam ft. If you look at his career he started at 83.5% his freshman season and has progressively spiraled down since then.

i've stated this multiple times we do not win when we have 3 or less in double figures we have to have four guys with double figures.

I just want to remind folks that Will Johnson referred to Ruben Dominguez as the best shooter in the world after his first made 3 against Northwestern State.

I don't defend Will very often, but Bucky said Ruben is one of the greatest shooters in the world prior to the start of the season. So I am sure Will was just echoing what Bucky had said to him

I think it's kind of wild how much heat Dominguez is taking when I thought Marcus Hill had an absolutely terrible game last night.

Ruben is taking a ton of heat because some fans think he should be hot every game no matter how he is guarded or how little help the rest of our team help him to get open.

Yeah and like Dominguez was also bad, I'm not saying otherwise, to be clear, but Hill absolutely killed us last night. Especially defensively.
