I don't think it works like that. I think what will happen is spelled out in the bill. If they were leaving it to the states it simply wouldn't say anything. But, I am just a simple science guy, not a government law guy.

I finally read a decent article on this ban. USA Today. Anyway, the important thing for now is that the ban doesn't take effect for one year from the bill signing. So, maybe something can be done before an industry is killed, but probably won't.

States could just ignore the federal law and make their own like all the legal states have done. That said, doubt texas would do anything.

Once Texas finds a way to get their cut they'll make it legal. Got to get the big lobbyists and distributors involved.

if that's the case, they could have just legalized weed a long time ago and taxed the hell out of it. It has more to do with your second sentence, but maybe that's what you are getting at.

Yea I see this as similar to beer distribution. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think any Hemp/THC products are on the 3 tiered system like beer is. I'm sure once they get that sorted out and everyone is getting their cut it will be legal. I'm not convinced the politicians really care about anything but the money when it comes to legalizing.

This right here is 100% spot on. Some distributors are carrying these now but little to no protection due to the vagueness of the law currently. I think it ideally will be given some federal framework guidelines and then hopefully implemented at state levels to their discretion. Assuming Texas will have a stricter stance than majority of states.

I doubt they fully ban it because as we have seen before a prohibition type stance doesn't work and the hemp/thc industry has become massive since the farm bill allowing hemp products was implemented.

This is a great way to stifle an industry and continue the growth of the black market.

Tax it at a reasonable amount? Yes. About the same as a pack of cigs or a case of beer as a %. But tax it too much and you get what California has where it is cheaper to just take the risk of an illegal grow vesus paying the multitude of various taxes annually that amount to well into the 6 figures to obtain a license.

Tejas Tonic is pretty good.


I bought a pallet of them when it seemed like thc drinks would be banned back in the summer.

i was being somewhat facetious to make a point that I just don't see Texas doing much on the legalization front, even with hemp-derived.

Just tried the 8th Wonder 10 mg drinks. These are the best tasting I have tried so far. These THC hit differently than the others. This didn't make me tired. This made me happy. 2 thumbs up from this guy. Maybe the word is out because it was out of stock at total wine.

There's a place near me in Kansas City that sells a 25mg soda that also has 90mg of caffeine. I have yet to try it.

The Buddi drinks they sell at Specs are gross. Way too much of the weed funk flavor. Tastes like they spiked it with bong water.

Stigma club soda at Total Wine is pretty great. No weed flavor, I mix it with coke zero or drink it on its own.

Wims is also a great option if you don't want to buy premade beverages and want to use something of your own choosing. No taste.

I think that is a step in the right direction, but I don't think that by itself is enough. Gonna need some serious lobby money to find the right pockets, and quickly.

Anybody know why some of these are ten bucks for a 4 pack and some are around 25. They have the same amount of thc. Is it just a prospecting price? Let's see how high they will go, kind of thing? Or is there some significant difference?

So far, the 8th wonder is my favorite. Loft is not bad. Nowadays spicy whatever tastes good, but not spicy and double the price.

IF the THC content is actually the same across brands, the higher priced products are probably trying to differentiate solely on price point. Sort of like what Grey Goose did with the vodka market back in the day. Basically the same stuff but throw it in a cool bottle and a high price and voila, you somehow have a product that's "exclusive" and "luxury." People are suckers in general and many think high price automatically equates to high quality.

I agree with you on 8th Wonder.

Pharos are real fruit juice with the bong water taste removed.

Easily the best I've tasted.

Also my favorite. All of them have been good. They are doing something with branding. They had beach break, and now they are doing wonder water or something. Maybe both? But I can't find the beach break ones anywhere. Not sure, but they are great.

I don't think they are going to throw a middle aged white dude with no criminal record in the pokey for a couple THC drinks. Just curious really. Kinda head scratching to think something I bought at a legitimate store could get me in trouble in another state.

Of you are driving, no big deal unless you are in a state that they aren't allowed and happen to get stopped by police.
