In honor of my late Father-in-law, Major Marvin Dale Bentley, I want to wish a Happy birthday to the US Air Force.

Maj Bentley was a US Army Veteran, a US Army Air Corps Veteran, a US Army Air Force Veteran, and finally, a US Air Force Veteran. RIP Mr. B

A few Texas A&M men who led the US Army Air Corps, pre-1947

Brigadier General Douglas B Netherwood, Class of 1908

Brigadier General William L. Lee, Class of 1927

Major General Robert B. Williams, Class of 1923

MG Robert B Williams Historical Marker, Albany in Shackelford County, Texas

In my research on Aggies' KIA during WWII, I can confidently say that A&M can claim the unofficial title of the US Army Air Corps academy pre-1947

My dad, who is not an Aggie, did some bombardier training at Bryan Field prior to going to England and bombing Germany/Austria 29 times. During my high school time in Germany one of his lieutenants, who was an Aggie, said "A&M might straighten out that son of yours." It helped a little.
