Taking my wife to SA this weekend for a quick holiday getaway. Been awhile since we've been downtown and trying to put an itinerary together. Wanted to run this by the experts.
Never been to the Tower of the Americas and thought about trying to be up there for sunset on Saturday to grab a drink. Want to eat at Bohanan's either before or after. Would y'all do the tower first and then dinner at around 7? What's the easiest way to get from the Tower to Bohanans? Walk or catch ride?
We're staying at the Menger. Anything else to do this time of year on the riverwalk? Thought about a carriage ride to see the lights and probably just bar hopping along the Riverwalk.
Any suggestions for a breakfast stop?
Instead of a carriage ride, take a barge cruise on the river. It is beautiful with all the Christmas lights. I am not a big fan of the Tower but it is probably OK this time of year. During the summer it is hot as hell in there eating.
This team of year you can walk from the Tower to Bohanon's. Depends on your wife's footwear.
In the bottom of the Hilton, if still there, go to Dirty Nellie's. It is an old and small piano bar singing Irish and Texas songs. I have always enjoyed it.
We ate down on the river last week and, like always, we said "We should come down here more often." Especially at Christmas, it is really pretty.
