Moved onto 6 acres last summer and didn't notice major bur issues...a couple stems here and there but nothing I was worried about. Between the manufactured home, shop, and water/electrical work, they have come out with a vengeance over the last couple weeks. Didn't think I needed the pre-emergent since didn't have many weed problems in the areas immediately around the house/shop areas before the work. Going to use atrazine a couple times a year to manage broadleaf weeds, but need help with bur elimination/management

Is there anything I can use to knock them out during this active season?? Am I better off hand pruning stems and dragging an old carpet to remove as many of the burs before mowing?

Going to follow this for better but EZ ways than mine.
You are on the right track but me too lazy for that taking care of 1/2ac like that so we
Use a hedge trimmer in the beds that are anti-mower, a simple toss of remains out to mower areas
Mow often on lawn tractor before a rain, then seed the beds with something more aggressive than the burs
No chemicals here, just burning gas & paying for water after May
Gotta draw since me got no grammar MasterArch '76

Celsius WP is labeled for them. MSMA will also kill them, but will severely burn bermuda in hot weather.

21-0-0 fertilizer, they do not do well in a high nitrogen environment

and yes, dragging old carpet or burlap bag behind the mower is a good way to gather them up..

This seems like the cheapest option…didn't realize the nitrogen would help rid them

They HATE good nutrient rich soil, so yes fertilizer will help tremendously.

They're also relatively easy to dig in soft soil, though 6 acres of grass is an ambitious undertaking for that route.
