IMHO we may not be the Crape Myrtle Capital but many think we are, as so many do very well here + So many height options for shade, flower colors, higher-PH OK, a bit drought tolerant, etc. Have only a nursery man custom select the type from photos you provide.
That said, long lived - even volunteering in unmoxed areas - shade trees for black thumbs & our sodium waters have been
- Cedar Elms
- Chinese Pistache
- Yaupons
- Live & Pin Oaks a distance away ideal as a 2nd planting since they take so long to grow, future shade for the HVAC w/o threatening the roof (food for thought for all tree options)
That said, any tree near the roof becomes a squirrel path.
