I noticed my mini split has been short cycling so I bought a little recharge kit. When I hooked it up, I was low on coolant. After I added some, the stupid little shrader valve now visibly leaks. It drips nonstop. I left everything hooked up, turned off the unit and called a local guy to come out.

Not sure when he's going to be able to make it out but will the brass screw cap contain the leak or should I just leave it like this until he's able to get out? We're supposed to be in the 20s tonight so not sure what that might do to this.

As long as the rubber is inside the cap it shoild be fine

I dont think your in bcs because of the 20 degree but I can fix for you if in bcs or i can give you noah phone nimber thorough air

I talked to one of my local guys and he told me the same thing...just to cap it off and it shouldn't leak and he was right. He's going to come out this week when it warms up a little to swap out that shrader valve and recharge. So much for me doing a cheap little $100 DIY fix LOL.

Could replace it yourself with a tool like this.
allows to to pull out the valve without discharging the system.
