Curious if anyone in the group has a hook up on MGI zip navigator carts? Several players in my group love them and k I'm interested in getting one, but dang they are pricey and not easily sourced used. Thanks in advance.

Two choices for you. Over the past few years, Costco has discounted the price on them during their 12 days of Christmas promotion. Check their website. I have not noticed them doing it so far this year but there are several days left. Discount is usually around $400 or $500 off regular price.

Better yet, do what I did about four years ago. I bought a refurbished unit from thecaddymart.com. Costco price for new unit right now is $1,799 and you can get a refurbished one for $1,199. You might want to call the guy to confirm what comes with it. Mine looked brand new and had only been used for 3 or 4 rounds. He buys the returns from Costco. Apparently guys buy them and then the wife finds out how much they spent! Also, I ordered it on a Monday and had it by Friday. He charged a reasonable shipping fee.

Mine has held up well. Battery is great and can cover 36 holes easily. Be careful when operating however. One of my golfing buddies drove his into a lake recently but it is still working.

I've been holding out for the Costco deal on this but unfortunately it hasn't come yet. MGI did have a BF sale directly on their site but the Costco bundle comes with some stuff I'd use and I'd rather buy it through them.

I've had one for 2 years. Got it for $1300 when they knocked the price down from $1550. It was the base remote version (not AT).

It has been amazing. I have 500+ miles on mine. Battery life is incredible. Mine has 4 bars indicating remaining battery - green, yellow, orange, red. I'll play 18 and all 4 bars are still there. If I play again without recharging, the green doesn't disappear until early on the back 9 of the next round (so a total of 28-30 holes in). I've played 54 without recharging several times - including this past week, and the yellow bar has never disappeared. So I bet I could play at least 6 rounds without recharging. That said, I play either 18 or 36 most weekends and just recharge it at the end of the weekend.

There's a bit of a learning curve for a few rounds, but then it's quickly 2nd nature

not to derail, or stir controversy but I am generally curious whats the point of the remote carts? I have a push cart I use and it is like pushing air for the most part and is no big deal. However, I could see its use if the course you play is extremely hilly.

Just curious yalls thoughts on the reasons for getting a remote cart?

A few for me.

First, believe it or not I can tell the difference between walking with my cart and pushing a cart from an effort perspective. It's not huge, but I can tell. Second, being able to just walk and not pay attention to pushing frees me up a little more than pushing to look around and enjoy the walk more. Third, the experience feels way more like having a caddy because you're just walking. I really wish mine had the follow feature and it would be perfect.

I get that it's a luxury. But it is my favorite non club purchase I've made. I absolutely LOVE mine.

A few things:

1) As a 51 year old dude that has dealt with the occasional back issue + with a sitdown day job where I tend to fight tight hip flexors, it is a nice difference to walk fully upright vs having a bit of a lean into a push cart all day. That has undoubtedly helped my back and keeping my hips from getting tighter.

2) I was surprised at the energy level difference. You expend more than you think pushing.

3) It is nice to enjoy the walk and the caddy feel to it. I will zip it ahead to where it's waiting for me at my ball in the fairway, or after I hit a green, i'll oftentimes pull my putter right after the shot and send the cart over the next teebox. Sets up a nice stroll.

I'd add one more. We are a dawn patrol group, so when it's chilly - which is a decent portion of the year in Dallas at 6-7am for those first few holes (if not more), it's nice to be able to walk with my hands in the pockets of the pullover I'm wearing. A Hot Hands in each pocket, toasty hands. Beats cold hands or messing with mittens on/off on/off.

Completely agree with the energy level comments, especially on the second 18, I've used a ClicGear 3.0 for years and the few times I've had the opportunity to use an electric cart levels didn't seem as low. Small things like being able to send the cart toward the next hole, without having to then walk back to the front of a green. Pull driver out on a back box and have your cart waiting for you up the fairway is definitely enjoyable.

Agree with all above. I have the MGI Zip all terrain and it makes walking 18 very easy. I used to get elbow or wrist pain from pushing all the time and this eliminated that. It is closest thing to having a caddy. Great around greens because you can grab your putter and walk straight up and maneuver your cart to next tee box already. Highly recommend the seat option, for sitting during slow rounds but also great storage holder for my phone and a few balls, etc.

Get the gold membership or whatever and your membership is essentially free anyway. 2% back on all purchases, handed out near the end of your membership cycle every year.

Our rebate check always more than covered our membership and then some. With a big purchase like this to kick it off, it's a no brainer

Different model, that's the zip x5. Unlike the navigator, it doesn't have a remote control. It's more of an assisted push cart.

There's a guy at my home course who has the non-remote version. I think he paid $800 for it and always tries to talk up the no regrets due to the savings, but man, what a waste. I can't stand to "push" mine for 10 feet.

Do you use a range finder and do you have an accessory for holding/attaching it on the cart?

I just got mine in today. First impressions are great, but I notice it doesn't have a carrying pouch like my current push cart. Suppose I could just carry it in my bag but I like having it more easily accessible.

I took a small mesh laundry bag and tied it onto the handle with a shoestring. Something like this

Nice! There is a bit of a learning curve with it for a few rounds as you learn the best way to control it + how you navigate your way around the course is different than it was with a push cart. But it becomes 2nd nature pretty quickly

Get one of these for range finder. Highly recommend. Magnet is very strong and I usually just sit on my wedge or another club. Never falls off while zipping my cart around. Unfortunately the MGI doesn't have any metal on it to attach it too, but my clubs work fine.

For anyone that has one... do you use the sand bottle accessory sold by MGI or a different one? I notice the one they sell mounts very low to the ground (for weight dispersion) but I'd prefer to clip one up where the water bottle holder attaches.
Was thinking of one sun mountain offers with the notch that fits like a water bottle holder.
I always fill my divots so not using one isn't an option.

Also, cart bag or carry bag for this buggy?
DannyDuberstein

Either is fine. Cart bag probably maximizes the utility, but anything that works on a push cart will work on this the same. I have a stand bag, albeit a fairly robust one with 14 dividers. I just don't care for cart bags because I want the legs to use the bag for the range, for my sim, etc without worrying about it falling over.

As far as sanding divots goes, I'd recommend not putting unnecessary weight near the handle, so I'd fo with Zip's. Mine very rarely tips over, but if it does, it's because I'm trying to go up too steep of a hill (which is also likely wet impacting traction) and being slow to react. A sizable amount of weight at the top would exacerbate that. I tend to be much more of a sweeper who doesn't take much of a divot, so I don't haul sand around.

I haven't ever had it tip over going down a hill. The watch-out for me is going up too steep of a hill at too high of a speed with early morning dew.

My Titleist linkslegend doesn't fit well is why I ask.
I'm reading the 24 way hybrid bags work the best but wanted to ask here rather than Reddit
