Does anyone follow his philosophy? Seems to be a major shift on tour in guys buying into what he's selling and getting away from being shallow and using the bounce all the time.
I've done both, but have been following Mayo closely over the last year or so and my short game has improved quite a bit. I would say it's the primary reason I've moved from a 4 to a 1 in the same timeframe.
I think it's especially works great in the south when you're chipping on grainy Bermuda all the time. His philosophy in a nut shell is that there's no such thing as too steep, keep the spine and head in front of the ball and move the low point of the clubhead a lot further forward than you think. There are a ton of videos on his Instagram of him transforming 10-15 handicaps short games in 20 minutes.
