Does anyone have any info on the new course they're building just south of Luling? I didn't know one was being built until someone told me on Friday. I can't really find any info on it, but I see it on Google maps. I think it's going to be a high end private course.

This is the first i've heard. Sounds like it will be 36 holes. 18 set to open this year, and the other in progress. Can really only find a few job listings and just some tiny mentions of it in some articles like this.

Apogee North is going to be sick. Too bad its private. I worked with the current grow in Super when he and I were at Colonial back in '08. Left there after a few years to Old Marsh, and then onto Apogee.

It's a flat, tree-less course on the Luling prairie in the middle of no-where. I'm sure we'll be fine.

My point was it may be very expensive/very exclusive, but it looks like a flat course on the prairie. I'm sure it will have nice grass, but it doesn't look overly interesting - unless you just enjoy wind.

But if I get on, I'll give you a call for the green fee!

not sure how accurate this will be, but it says walking only.

I'm old school and all about walking when I can, but damn. walking only in TX on a piece of property with hardly any trees? Seems like a disaster.

No one's walking these courses from late May-September. They aren't designed for and don't expect year round play.

Members here will play October-early December and late-March-early May. They jet off to other locations with more temperate climates in the summer and winter.

Trinity Forest has a similar policy, but they relax it during the summer months and allow carts.

It's going to have two top 10 (probably better) courses in Texas that most will never play (either because they can't get on or because they won't want to go to Childress to play them).

BTW, Childress Hall is walking only too. They shut down in the summer and winter. Pretty much only a spring and fall operating season.

These are the type courses that will eventually go public or close, once the money guy dies. The family who inherits these money suckers will put up with it for a couple of years, then say to hell with it. History says this is so, see The Falls, Colovista, Blaketree National and several others whose names I forget.
