I finally played Waterchase for the first time and birdied 18 to shoot 79. (Context: I've only broken 80 a handful of times)

Started playing 4 years ago at age 33. Carded my best round of 85 yesterday (73.1/133 course) as a 15.5 HCP. Was match play vs 11.2 HCP and I closed him out on 11 (8&7 win) straight up, no pops. And yes, I still finished out putts because I knew I was playing a career round.

Can't wait to shoot 101 next week.

I'm a 9.4 handicap, and played in a Ryder Cup style event a couple weeks ago at Dormie Club in NC right by Pinehurst. My first 2 matches on the last day (9 hole matches) I shot 37 on the front and 36 on the back. Full round 73, 1 over par - personal best by 2 strokes, and made better considering my previous best 75 was at Idabel CC in Broken Bow - not exactly the hardest course in the world, and I believe a par 70.

Won the first match 2&1 on 8 with a 30 foot birdie putt to a guy I was giving up 3 pops to in 9 holes. Won the 2nd match 4&2 with a 2 foot birdie putt tap in on 16. Finished each side out because I was playing so well. 6 birdies in the round is also a personal best. I LOVE GOLF!

Gorgeous morning nine in Sugarland today. Probably the best weather we will have. Upper 50's and not a breath of wind. Played well for me - icing on the cake.

CPG would be proud of that index. A 9.2 shooting a 73…

Can't wait!

Tallamore was today. Greens were running a 12. Wonderful course and tough greens, plus llamas!

Mid Pines was absolutely brutal to me today. Greens look similar in many ways to Number 2, small, super fast even with rain, and false fronts on every hole.

I did stick it on 18, which was satisfying.

Been REALLY struggling on front nines lately… 44-48 type of stuff followed by 37-40 type of stuff… today I came out strong on the front 9 of Cypresswood Cypress (old back 9). Had a double and still shot 35 thanks to 4 front 9 birdies.

Nursed a 38 on the back 9 for a 73… my first low-ish 70s round in close to a year.

See y'all in the F Golf thread next week…

Played 18 With my adult son yesterday. Just he and I sharing a cart and enjoying 3-1/2 hours of alone time and the sport. That's really about as good as it gets.

I played on Sunday for the first time since the first weekend of November and shot my personal best, in spite of a +3 on 10 and a +5 on 11, a 92.

Had a couple of penalties, but those were offset by a couple of chip ins. I had a run of 5 holes where I got 4 pars and a birdie, so it was nice to see what I was capable of. Hit a double on 18 when I needed a birdie to break 90, but alas..

I'm a mid teens handicapper. I've never had a lesson, but I do research how to make my game better. It's not that I have an aversion to lessons per se, I just like figuring things out on my own. It's awesome to do something right and have that lightbulb go off in my head, and then continue to replicate it. Like today. Something had been throwing my irons off, and I couldn't figure out what it was. Today I decided to just hit nice and easy, and boom!, everything felt right! So I'm sitting there wondering what I did differently, and realize it's the width of my stance. My irons were straighter than they have been in a few months!

Now wait for my next post to be coming to the Efff Golf thread shortly....

I did it! Broke 80 with a 78. 2 birdies, lot of close chips and putts. +5 on the last 6 holes. Beer, heat, and walking got me. Great day.

A buddy of mine in our regular weekend game shot one under par (first time ever) with his 12 strokes he shot 13 under net. The best part was he was on my team and needless to say, we took home the cash.

PS. His handicap is legit. Everyone playing has played with him numerous times and no one accused him for r sandbagging nor could they believe it.

12 handicap shot 1 under? The odds of that are 1 in 1200 so once in a 10 year type day i guess.

So was your stance closer or wider than normal?

That's the odds of -7 under. -10 is 1 in 84,300. My guess is it is quite a bit greater than 1 in a million.

I am reviving the thread because I am still riding high. I've barely gotten to play due to the brutal winter in the northeast this year other than Texas at Christmas and a weekend in Florida in January, so I expected to come out very rusty.

However on Monday i fired off my new personal best: a +1 71. Its an easy local course, but still gotta put it in the hole. Felt great to make some birdies and see a ton of putts go in.

Should be some good golfing weather in TX tomorrow after some rain so we should be able to fire at those soft greens!

Birdies await boys! Hopefully they can get out in the morning and mow the greens

First time on a golf course yesterday since June '24, after a knee replacement and my fourth back surgery (third fusion). I will preface this by saying it was a 9 hole par 3 course that was just over 1,000 yards total. Figured it was a good way to ease back into playing.

Shot a 5 over 32, with 6 pars, 2 doubles, and a 3 putt bogey. My short iron game (approach shots) usually kills my scoring, but I really struck the ball well, and every swing felt really natural and comfortable. Hit 6 of 9 greens - really pleased overall.

Playing in a scramble on the 30th, and hoping to play a normal round soon after. Will surely be posting on the F Golf thread soon!

Edit - forgot to mention hitting the flagstick on the fly on one hole - never done that before.

Yes - I missed the birdie putt.
