I feel like Sark is the best representative of tu--soft as hell, whiney, and never meets expectations set by a media that wants them to be great again.

But he's not wrong about Tech's schedule, particularly OOC. If you play in a weaker league, like the big 12 and the ACC, then play tougher OOC games and people can look at you with some respect. Instead, Tech chose to play OOC games against TAPPS-level schools, so when they get dominated by a real playoff team in their one big game each year, you're just seen as a New Money joke. 23-0 to Oregon, who then got absolutely crushed by Indiana in their next game just makes you look like you don't belong.

He's gotta downplay Tech since they have a real opportunity to be like Miami was in the Big East days. Horrible competition but legit athletes who can play.

It can be hard to project what a team will be like 5-8 years out when these deals are struck. Clemson was a middling team when we scheduled them and were a top 5 squad when they showed up at Kyle in 2018.

Additionally, I don't think Sark's gripe was about their non-con as much as their conference slate... which is out of Tech's control.

The part where this gets sour for me is Texas was in that conference as recently as 2023. I didn't hear Sark crapping on the Big12's competitive strength back then. Further, Big12 coaches and fans (especially Texas) were loudly complaining that the SEC was overrated because it was super top-heavy and only played 8 conference games per year.

Sark's lack of self-awareness in making his claim is peak sip.

Texas, nor A&M, nor OU, will ever play them. There is nothing there for these programs. The game is not played anywhere near a place you recruit, but it would give them help in a state/region that everyone recruits. If any of these three schools want to play a Big 12 team in OOC play, besides Bedlam hopefully coming back someday, the teams to play are the Western 5, UCF, or WVU. Nobody else in the Big 12, especially the Texas 4 should ever get scheduled by Texas, OU, or A&M.

The only way it happens is if enough Tech grads get into powerful positions in Texas government to be able to threaten university funding. I really don't see that happening given the number of grads the other two schools have. In all likelihood, Tech will only face A&M or Texas in the CFP or possibly a bowl.

Total bluff and puff and all for show. Nobody is changing schedules this late in the offseason.
