Where were those 4 programs ranked at the end of the season?

Well, Texas A&M Athletics sure seems to care. They're celebrating finishing 15th this year and 11 top-20 finishes.

For comparison, Texas has finished in the top-5 12x; the top-10 20x; and never outside the top-20.

There were 3 years that A&M finished ahead of Texas in the Director's Cup standings: 2010 (AM 6, TX 15); 2011 (AM 8, TX 12); 2013 (AM 5, TX 13).

I can't speak for others, but for me it's not about the trophy. It's about recognizing the success of Texas Athletics, as a whole. I want every team/individual who puts on a Texas uniform to win every time they compete. Particularly those in the non-revenue sports who don't get all the media attention and $.

And I'm no T-shirt fan. I graduated from Texas. Met my wife there. Retired after a 34 year career there. When I lived in Austin I had season tickets to football, baseball, women's basketball, and volleyball. Also attended men's basketball, softball, tennis (men's and women's), soccer, and swimming and diving (men's and women's).
