Buyer beware, another risky risky penny I'm in is RNWF. This is NOT a covid play, but I see a TON of the penny guys pickign this up including Tim Sykes so I'm playign a pump/dump here.

blast from the past (Aug 2020)... apparently I listened to one of the mcinnis and bought some of this. position so small I did not notice it's 50x run over the past few months from 0.0008 to 0.04...

not a recommendation - know nothing about it. back down to 0.02 now.

Quick tax question you guys might know. I tax loss harvested some WWR 12/31/25 but turned around and bought Feb 2026 $1 calls. Will the loss not be allowed for 2025 and now transferred to the calls? Pretty ambiguous wording using chat gpt

Consult with your CPA but I believe that would constitute a 'similar position' in the same security and would not be allowed by the IRS as a tax write off. This is JMO and suggest talking to a CPA for clarification. I know we have 1 or 2 in this clubhouse so if they see your post then they are who I'd listen to.

Thanks! I'll see what my broker classifies it on the 1099 and have this trade noted if I need to consult further.

The only stock I did this for, couldn't have WWR moon shot and be completely out.

according to A.I. to avoid wash sale you have to wait 30 days. I hope that's right because I sold WWR for tax loss harvesting and bought more after 30 days.

That is very surprising to me. I could've sworn shares and calls were treated differently for wash sale purposes.

Quote:

The wash sale rule is an IRS regulation that prevents investors from claiming a tax loss on the sale of a security if they buy the same or a "substantially identical" security within 30 days before or after the sale date. This 61-day window (30 days before, the day of the sale, and 30 days after) is designed to stop investors from claiming "manufactured" losses for tax purposes while essentially maintaining their investment position.

How the Wash Sale Rule Works

If a transaction is identified as a wash sale, the following occurs:
Loss is Disallowed for Now: You cannot deduct the loss on that security to offset capital gains or up to $3,000 in ordinary income for the current tax year.

Loss is Added to New Cost Basis: The disallowed loss is added to the cost basis (original price) of the newly acquired security. This adjustment defers the tax benefit until you eventually sell the new position in a non-wash sale transaction. A higher cost basis means a smaller taxable gain (or a larger deductible loss) in the future.

Holding Period is Adjusted: The holding period of the original, sold security is added to the holding period of the new one. This can help you qualify for the more favorable long-term capital gains tax rates when you eventually sell the new shares.

Key Considerations

Covered Securities: The rule applies to stocks, bonds, mutual funds, exchange-traded funds (ETFs), and options.

"Substantially Identical" The IRS does not provide a bright-line definition of "substantially identical," but it generally means the exact same security.

Stocks of different companies, even in the same industry, are generally not considered substantially identical.

Two ETFs that track the same index (e.g., the S&P 500) might be considered substantially identical, so caution is advised.

The bolded part is what I was referring to.

Hey family, please focus on the bolded part of his post. That's called disciplined and removing emotions from his decisions, which is essential if you actively manage your own money. I've seen his posts get better and better in just over the year and his growth in market knowledge is beyond impressive.

I love it when I see folks go from gamblers to knowledgeable traders. It's why HA and I do what we do.

Great job El dude, stay humble and continue to learn because it's a life changing path that you're on.

What if you held it for the last 5 years and it's worth about 20% of what it was at best?

And yes, I've been averaging down, but I honestly forgot about it and focused on better options instead of just cutting losses. Guess I should've been buying more when it dropped below 0.50, but it's tough when your average starts at around $7.

Anyone else like the ACHR chart right now? Seems like there is enough support to keep it from dropping further than the high 7's and the potential to double this year if it takes off for the top of the channel it has been in since 2023
