Capacity.
EPM is booked, especially the premium rooms, often.
We did the imperial suite at coral last year and they're fully booked this year at the same time.
They're opening a new one (Finest, for families) in 2027.
Also, EPM is starting to look a little tired. I'm sure they'll do a remodel before too long.
Coral is new and has some better restaurant choices. We didn't like that there are fewer cabanas on the club beach at Coral. My wife is usually down there before sunrise, because she likes watching the sun come up. And there are still lots of people playing the towel game to get a cabana (I wish the staff would clamp down on this). We had a honeymoon suite with a private pool and loved it, though we probably won't get it again because we got a stupid good deal on it when we booked.
They're slowly doing a remodel at EPM, so they're trying to push more people to Coral while they're doing the renovation. I think they're almost done with building 9.
In that area, we've liked Secrets Playa Blanca staying Preferred level the most. We haven't done Le Blanc or Altelier because they're outside our budget. Impressions Moche Playa Del Carmen was our favorite all-inclusive we've been to, and it's way out in front of all the ones we've been to.
