Leave tomorrow for Leavenworth, WA. Christmas town. No electricity for the past 3 days. Supposed to be back up this evening but no lights in Leavenworth expected this weekend. Great timing.

Then to Seattle. Flooding shouldn't impact us downtown.

Then to Vancouver. Hopefully no issues there.

Ugh.

Leavenworth is still nice without the lights. Hopefully it keeps the crowds away.

Leavenworth supposedly looks like a hurricane hit it. I would consider avoiding. Another atmospheric river is coming as well. Highway 2 is washed out.

I'd skip Leavenworth this trip if I were you. I live in Wenatchee about 20 minutes from there.

Hwy 2 washed out in multiple locations between Leavenworth and I5. The only other way to Leavenworth is blewett pass which had significant wildfires all summer. They had a bunch of mudslides this week and rivers are still at historical highs. Forecast is another Pineapple Express is due to hit Monday which could cause more of the same. If Blewett closed while you're in Leavenworth is a really long route to get back to the west side.

The downtown commercial district is fine flood wise, but all the surrounding areas including downtown parks along river are under water and the power situation is in shambles with downed lines all over the place. Unfortunately I don't think anyone is expecting this is over so I'd stick to the west side and stay out of the mountain areas.

We were going to fly into EAT from SEA, but we opted to stay in Seattle until Vancouver. We couldn't get in touch with anyone. Now electricity isn't predicted to be restored until tonight.

Good call. I have a friend who is a lineman with the local utility, He said up the valley it's a mess and will take weeks to sort out. Poles and lines down all over.

Plenty to do in Seattle and surrounding neighborhoods. Bummer you couldn't make it over here this time, but you should definitely plan a return trip!

Be careful in downtown Seattle after dark. I was there for work in the beginning of Nov and all of the locals told me it's best not to be walking around after about 8p unless it's a block or two.

Multiple people have been assaulted/mugged near the Safeco Plaza in the last year.

From NOLA... know how to keep my head on a swivel. I have had to tell two guys to back off already following behind us too closely at night.

Seattle. Palisade Restaurant. Sake Marinated Black Cod. Probably a top 5 dish I have eaten.

I'm sure there is something internationally I have yet to eat that knocks it out.

Just figured out that a transfer from Victoria BC to Vancouver isn't as simple as I thought. My 'current' wife (another board thread) didn't quite get this part planned. Planning on the fly.

Amtrak Cascades Seattle to Vancouver is the easiest way to get there. Going through Victoria is scenic too but more moving parts.

Thanks. That sage advice would have worked before I boarded a ferry to Victoria. And to be clear... I always laugh at myself in less than optimal situations.
