Apparently one thing that a government shutdown does not impact is online passport renewals. While the website states 4-6 weeks of processing, I submitted my renewal application on 10/25 and received the new passport in my mailbox on 10/30. Without expediting. I am speechless.

The office at the State Department that issues passports is funded by the fees charged for passports - not government appropriations

Five days is crazy.

We submitted ours request on October 15th and were notified that we've been approved yesterday. I expected that we'll receive them in the next couple of weeks. Pretty impressive compared with what it used to be.

Can confirm. I filled out the application on a Sunday a few weeks ago and received it the following Friday.

Our passports arrived today.

The website says 4 - 6 weeks, but our passports arrived today (2 week turnaround).

Trying to do online renewal right now.. on the page where I enter passport number, name and birthday, I'm getting an error "Fix 1 error to continue" but no indication on which cell/input is causing the error.

can't figure out what's wrong.. there isn't much to fill out on this page.

Maybe check to see if there isnt some check box to check like an acknowledgment box for some legalise or something. I kept getting this exact error on something else and it was an obscure tick box. Also if you are auto populating info it sometimes doesnt accept it for some reason

well after literally about 8 times, all of a sudden it worked.

I submitted on monday the 3rd. I got a usps email yesterday saying package from 'passport services' is scheduled to arrive on the 10th.

Man that is fast. I did regular, $130. No facility fee either.
