Late next April the wife and I will be in Madrid for 4 days. What super secret tips do you have for us?

We went last week of April last year and it was great. It was a bit cold so be prepared for any type of weather.

My favorites were:
Royal Palace and Armory guided tour
Flamenco show and dinner - at Corral de La Moreria
E-bike tour with TIM bikes
Check out Mercado De San Miguel

Foodwise we hit a few ok places, but my favorites were

La Taberna Penalver Paella Restaurant
Drinks on rooftop Hotel Indigo

Consider a day trip to Toledo, the capital of Castille/Spain until the 1500s. It's frozen in time, hasn't changed much since the capital moved to Madrid. It's an easy train trip.

My wife and I went to a bullfight at Las Ventas. It was quite the experience. The super secret tip (not really) would be that guests are welcome to walk through the gates with their own food and drinks. I recommend a sack of nuts and a tall Cruzcampo.

I'm watching a YouTube video, A Walking Tour of Madrid. Very informative. Do any of you use this technique when planning?

This place was recommended to me by a fellow texagger, and it was very fun and chill:

Sadly, my favorite meal of the trip was at a restaurant that has since closed. However, I also had a tasty and interesting meal here:

3 words for you: Museo de Jamon.

If standing up at a wraparound bar, with flies all around due to the unairconditioned setting with cured pig legs hanging from the ceiling bothers you, do it anyway! The ham is world class, the beer is super-cheap (small glasses for less than a buck), and the setting is extremely unique! You can fill up on Pan de Tomate if needed.

Soak in the atmosphere of something you'll never ever find, here at home.

One tip I can give is make sure you get reservations for restaurants. I got really lucky the first night I got there and a good restaurant had availability.
