Have never taken out travel insurance on European cruises. Hearing about some medical issues that have happened I would like thoughts and recommendations regarding having insurance. Wife and I are healthy but you never know when something might happen. Any company better than the rest?

I ALWAYS travel with insurance, especially with how cheap it is.

My most used for my clients is RoamRight. Prices are good and their customer service is fantastic (I have a great account manager).

I often sell Travel Insured as sometimes it can be cheaper for folks who are getting a little older.

Other great ones are Travel Guard, Allianz.

The main thing is you want "primary" coverage and not "secondary" coverage.

I'm happy to provide you a quote, it doesn't cost you any more to purchase through me (but not worries if not). Email is in profile.

And I do recommend getting insurance outside of the cruise line. While the cruise line may be cheaper, and may offer "cancel for any reason", their medical coverage is usually pretty cruddy and the cancel for any reason is usually a future cruise credit.

Allianz has worked well for me. Had 3 claims paid over the last 2 years, had money deposited in my bank account within 7 days of making the original claim.

United mileage plus is at $269 for two of us.

like insurance? Just for the flight? I've never heard of anyone buying insurance with United (I think it only covers the flight). And I bet its secondary not primary. I would look elsewhere if that is insurance.

For medical/on trip only for RoamRight (no cancellation protection) is $104 total for 2 people aged 59. Note this is not cancellation protection - that is more.

We tried Faye for our trip to Switzerland. The older we get, the more likely it could be we need to use it for medical purposes.

We didn't need it but it was relatively cheap and I like the app. Faye had good reviews.

Not for the flight. Covers the entire 11 day cruise. Never had this offer before on previous cruises. I will try to contact you about your policy

I've used insuremytrip.com in the past to price comparison and purchase.

Most recently, for a trip to New Zealand, I used something that showed up on my cc statement as iTravelInsured. I think it's IMG travel insurance. Went with them because they had the cheapest plan for the coverage levels I wanted (much cheaper than what I found on insuremytrip).

I always get a plan that covers trip cancellation/interruption as well as some medical expenses.

And I've had clients use this IMG before, usually it's when booking with a vendor. I would just want to read the policy to ensure its primary and not secondary.

I agree 100% with you. My clients I highly recommend travel protection outside the cruise line. If you are investing that amount of money on a vacation it is wise to get protection. Life happens pre and sometimes on vacation. I could go on and on about stories from clients.
