You should def head south a bit to Oswald State / Smugglers Cove. You'll see some of our last great old growth and have a secluded beach cove. Head a bit more south and Tillamook Creamery for ice cream. Ecola Seafood Market in Cannon has boat-to-table dungeness crab daily. Daughter likes to rip into them. Beyond that, it's common to grab a stack of wood, a shovel, and dig an evening fire on the beach.
I have an actual 10 page Word doc I sent to my mom for Bend. She's coming in July. I think it's the best place in America, but I l'm a major skier snd semi-professional bike racer. It has the goods for me. We're there once a month. What are you into to?
Off the bat, can't miss this time of year: Cascade Lakes Scenic (Devil is our fav lake). Consider Sunriver over Bend if you have kids. But if in Bend, float the Deschutes outside the amphitheater for a concert then down to Bend Brewing for dinner on the lawn. Bend white water park is fun to get wrecked on a surf board. Consider if you want to drive Santiam Pass or Hood to get there. Fruit loop in Hood River is great right now for strawberries and cherries (
