Anybody you recommend to help with airfare? Different cities of entry and departure, recommended layovers, stuff like that. I've got all the in-country stuff covered.
Thanks!!!

Traveling to China is still a bit difficult post Covid shutdown… a lot of my preferred western airline operated flights have never returned. I travel to Guangzhou a lot and used to be able to fly in directly with ease but have found it easier now to travel to Hong Kong and then look for local flights or train depending on situation.

Domestic China flights often BSC. If people start pushing and shoving you getting on or off the plane just roll with it.

Very true. If possible, I try to stay to Cathay Pacific… bit better.

Just got my tickets and have a 12 hour overnight layover in Tokyo on the way over. Anybody know if a service will pick me and my boys up at night for a city tour? Or what would you do with the layover? Besides sleep?

I also have a 6 hour layover in Helsinki on the way back from 6 a.m. to noon. Could use a suggestion there too.

States and countries don't count unless you leave the airport.

HND or NRT? HND is closer to Tokyo, but I would think 12 hrs would give you plenty of time from NRT as well.

When we flew back from BKK this summer we had a long layover in HND, but it was in the morning. We took a train to Shibuya. We visited Meiji Jingu, Take****a St, and grabbed some Ramen before heading back to the airport.

My plan with 12-hours would be to find a hotel room near Shinjuku or Shibuya. Would check in then go walk around and eat a couple times. Then go back to the room to shower and nap until time to go back to the airport. Might also hit up a sauna / massage place during that time period as well.

I've been there too. I have a son from there. We're going back to visit his place of birth and early childhood, and taking his brother too. Pretty awesome, huh? And I hope to go back again next year as a plenary lecturer at a chemistry conference. Pretty cool, huh?

Yep, pretty cool indeed. In fact maybe the coolest thing I have heard all week!
