I'm blown away right now at the water. I wasn't expecting the resort to have a very good beach and I'm pleasantly surprised.

This is Hyatt Zilara Riviera Maya. It's a complete reno from the old Secrets Capri. I'll share more info as I have it, just got here yesterday afternoon.

Im headed to Secrets Moxche on Wednesday.

The sand down there is the best. From my experience the sand in Cancun and Playa never gets hot.

It doesn't get hot because it's decomposed coral. Not rock.

In the nearest future i am planning to become a travel agent myself and at the moment checking all the information about custom travel app https://zoftify.com/solutions/mobile-apps-for-travel-agencies-and-tour-operators, which will help me to get more clients in the future.

Few more photos.
Smaller resort.

Right now it's at 41% occupancy. Pretty quiet which I like. Some music by the pool but nothing too loud.
Lots of chairs and umbrellas by the pool. So far there is very little "towel game" but I guess it could be at higher occupancy.
Beach is really nice. Not a ton of palapas so the towel game could be worse here. I bought a cabana today ($99).

So far food has been pretty good. Not a lot of dining options since it is a smaller resort. Caribbean beach party for dinner tonight, hibachi tomorrow.

Not a bad view to celebrate my birthday

I have clients who love it. I had a wedding there last
November and it went perfectly.

we just booked royalton splash for next fall. Those pics do look great.

not sure if the royalton is officially in riviera maya zone, but close enough I guess.

The beach water will not be great at RS unfortunately. The water is more murky/brown there. The resort looks fun though!

This is a timely thread as I've been looking to book a Hyatt AI next spring for my wife to celebrate our five year anniversary.

I know the Zilara in Cancun is held in high regard, is this one comparable or is the Cancun version worth paying a premium for?

While I haven't stayed at the one in Cancun, my thoughts would be that one.

While there is nothing wrong with this one, I think it's good for 3-4 days. Pretty quiet. 18-19 palapas total on the beach. Food had been decent but not what I would expect for this caliber resort.

They have:
Buffet for breakfast and dinner
Sit down for lunch
Two snack bar type options for lunch
Italian, Asian (only open certain days), Mexican/mixed and buffet for dinner.

Open air lobby, and lunch/dinner at Lola's is outdoors. So I can see this being quite hot in the summer months.

Service is a little slower than I like. But I'll admit I'm spoiled.

There is nothing wrong with this resort and it's a good option for the price point. I do really like the pool, and the beach was way better than I was expecting. Sports bar played all the college football Saturday so that was better than most resorts I've been to in the fall. We were even able to get it in our room and I'm not sure that's happened before at any resort I've been to.

I would stay here again but would also probably try new resorts over coming back. Again I think it's a great option for 4 nights or so.

Haven't tried any of the nightly entertainment other than the one night they had the violinist in the lobby.

I'll ask but I don't think they have any non-motorized water sports which should be a staple for this caliber resort. Website says "coming soon" but it's been open 10 months. I see no places for it either.

They are at 41% occupancy, so pretty low. They said 50% on the weekends.

I think what I'm most disappointed is I got what I thought was a really nice oceanview balcony room.

This is my view sitting down. The rooms with smaller bathrooms and a regular table/chairs have a far better view than I do. I can see the ocean standing up.

Note I'm probably pickier than most since I've stayed at quiet a few resorts. This is certainly not a bad option and I would totally sell it to others. I had 2 couples stay here in Feb and loved it (4 nights).

wife and I did hyatt ziva in cancun. It's partially adults only, with a pool, a few bars and restaurants, and a certain tower being adults only. The beach areas could obviously have kids though.

but they have two sides with beaches (they are the northeastern most property in the '7' of hotel zone.

They have a large sports bar that includes a brewery, the only AI brewery in Mexico.

I believe you can day visit zilara while staying at ziva.

agree I would be very disappointed with the oceanview balcony, especially given the other Hyatt AI locations.

We enjoyed Zilara in Cancun, but the pool was pretty cold in mid-November. Definitely need to either get out and do the towel thing in the morning or pay for the daybed/cabana option which comes with 2 chairs. Also, the main pool is definitely loud during the day, especially on Foam Party day. Thought the food options were pretty good for an AI.

Been going to Zilara Rose Hall for the last few years. Warmer in mid-November and a bit more laid back.

If you were going to buy into one of the riviera maya resorts which would it be?
JMac03
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I would never ever buy into a time share. I wouldn't want to limit where I could go.

IF I ever did, it would be one where I could visit any resort on the chain. So probably Secrets/Dreams. But again I would not ever buy a timeshare.

Are any sold as non time shares?

Not that I know of if you are talking about a resort. I'm not saying there aren't condo buildings somewhere.
