My AA flight out of Myrtle Beach was delayed due to mechanical causing us to miss our connection to SA on Charlotte.

AA app won't let me change for new flight.

Always book direct with airlines unless you are using a legitimate travel agent. The potential savings (if any) over booking directly with an airline or with a live travel agent is not worth the hassle when things go wrong with the flights (which they eventually will).

I usually do book direct with United but realize I made a mistake. AA booked us on a 6:30 pm flight, but now we are sitting here boarded, pushed back, now back at gate because of a mechanical problem with another plane. We are currently 35 minutes behind schedule but if I get to SA tonight I will feel lucky. I realize all airlines can have problems but my love for AA is back where it was the last time I flew them.

Agree with this and I actually stopped using travel agents unless part of a specific package. The inability to directly communicate with folks with last minute changes caused by airlines is frustrating.

Airline schedules are still a mess. There are fewer flights available and on smaller aircraft than 2019.

If possible, don't take the last flight of the day. And if you really need to get there like for a wedding or something, book your flights to arrive at least one day ahead of the event.
