Yup, you read that right. My boys are both 8 and in 10u baseball and in their first year of kid pitch. They are required to wear cups for the first time. I assume that the cups and technology has changed tremendously since I first wore one 30+ years ago and with all of the stores and online options I just want to get a good one.

One of the ones my wife suggested from one of their coaches and the mom's group was a pair of sliding shorts with a cup that isn't rock hard (yes, I can't figure out to type it without some kind of joke lol) but rather the cup bends and is pliable. She said it was halfway between a solid hard cup and the softness of the squirt water bottles we had on the sidelines during football practice back in the 90s/2000s. Which sounds crazy to me.

Basically, what do you, Oh Great TexAgs, recommend for first time cup wearers aka 8/9 year old boys?

Much appreciated!

Sliding shorts plus a semi flex cup is what most are wearing these days. You might be able to find and old style jock strap with hard cup if you look, but you risk your boys being made fun of if someone sees them in a jock strap.

Chances of getting a ball hit directly at their balls with the potential to permanently damage their jewels in 8u and 10u is almost impossible. No one throws that hard or hits that hard at those ages.

Appreciate the response. I didn't even know they made semi-hard cups these days.

Diamond MMA are the best cups around. They're not cheap tho.
