I cannot state enough how much I love this team and especially Victor.
If the Spurs do go on to win the title this year, it will be because of him. He has so much confidence and desire that he pulls everyone else with him.
The players on this team have to be strong and confident because Victor won't let them be otherwise.
He is a beast on the court but his mentality off the court may be more important. He wants to be the best. He believes he is the best and he's out to prove it.
I know that much confidence turns some people off but he does it in such a genuine way and I love it.
I absolutely love Wemby and his passion for the game and his extreme desire to win.

My fav player on this team tho is Castle. I've always loved an elite defender (Bruce Bowen, Kawahi) and his ability to just pester and be a gnat on the best offensive players in the league is beautiful to watch.

It really is 1A/1B for me with Castle and Wemby
No matter what!
Epstein didn't do, you know, the thing...
I'm the rare Astros/Cowboys/Spurs fan. We do exist

It's a silly hypothetical, but if you are even debating top 4 picks or Wemby, the Answer is Wemby. Wemby can only make 35% of the salary max. If you get the top 4 picks and they all pan out, at contract time you just locked yourself into paying 4 guys a ton of money.

Jason Timpf talking about Wemby's gravity on offense.

Says "Spurs generate 12.4 corner threes per game, the most in the entire history of the NBA."

Credits some with the Spurs guards, but says it primarily comes because teams are so scared of Wemby rolling and his ability at the rim, that Wemby's gravity creates more corner threes than anyone else ever.

Here is that gravity in action:

Coach said at least six passes before the shot or everyone's running bleachers.

Seems like Wemby's starting to feature that one timer hockey pass more lately. Just a one handed redirect...looks sick.

Watching the Rockets, man they could use Castle. Does anyone have the inside story into how they decided to pick Sheppard?

Thank God they did.

I wish the season could end today, standings are perfect for us.

Round 1 vs. play in team
Round 2 vs.LAL or HOU

This lets us avoid the Minnesota and Denver that I both think are bad matchups for us until the conference finals and more importantly forces OKC to go up against (hopefully) Denver in the 2nd round while we either get a soft LAL team or a flawed HOU team in the 2nd round.

At the moment they picked Sheppard they still had Jalen Green and had just used a lottery pick on Amen the year before. The thinking was that they had

PG- FVV
SG- Green
SF- Thompson
PF- Smith
C- Sengun

Also had Eason and Dillion Brooks who both have some overlap with Castle's skill set as tough defenders.

They thought they just needed a PG/SG 6th man type microwave to complete the roster. Conventional wisdom was that Reed was the better fit for them. Fast forward a year though, they trade Green, FVV gets hurt, and Reed isn't physically capable of guarding and their back court is a disaster.

Also, hard to remember now but draft gurus loved Reed and thought it was a great pick for the Rockets.

Both outlets gave the Rockets A's for picking him. Obviously in a redraft scenario they'd take Castle instead.

I don't think udoka ever considered green as part of their long-term plans, and I think that his contract extension was set up specifically to trade him for a bigger piece like Durant. I no, I saw him as a player that's probably going to peek out as a sixth man for a good team, not as a key player. He's too inconsistent

Read Shepard did have tons of great advanced stats but the question was always if he would have the lateral quickness to defend or if he would just get beat constantly for being smaller and weaker and he's getting beat constantly because he's smaller and weaker.

I wanted him on the Spurs if we didn't get Castle.

Early in the draft process there was thought that Zaccy Racecar would drop to four and we could get Castle at 8. Racecar played just 9 minutes last night in an overtime win against Detroit. I think we're in the certified bus territory now.

Rockets lost to Minnesota and Denver barely beat Dallas last night.

Denver can certainly turn a switch because they have the talent, but the West is really looking like a three-team conference right now. And that depends how much you believe in the Lakers. I think the Lakers defense is so highly exploitable. I can't trust them at all but at the same time I do think LeBron and Luka are going to get the best whistles in the NBA in the playoffs. Especially for LeBron's last playoffs with the Lakers

I just hope the play in team is the Suns and not the Clippers. I just think Kawhi in the playoffs is still tough.

The play in is tight and the clippers still play us and OKC twice, each. They won't drop out, but there could be lots of movement there.

The Rockets game was wild. Rockets went on a 26-2 run at the end of regulation and start of OT to take a 13 point lead with a little over 3 minutes left, but the Wolves closed on. 15-0 run to steal the game back.

I would rather play the Suns, too, but they play the Spurs well for some reason. There is no easy path this year. If you want to make the Finals coming out of the West, you're going to earn it. Same as most years.

Hawks keep winning, pick might now be in the high teens/low 20's....warming up to the idea if Yaxel Lendeborg is gone at the Spurs pick to take his teammate Morez Johnson Jr.

I would be curious to know who the Spurs would have picked. I really doubt Sheppard was on the board for them but I coukd be wrong.

The Express-News Spurs reporters have a weekly podcast and at one point they said the Spurs would have taken Sheppard if Castle wasn't available.

Reed was always an odd hype to me. Anyone who watched him in college knew he was an awesome shooter but turnstyle on D.

I mean yeah there's less d now in the league due to the rules but you can't be a wet paper bag on D when it matters. Good teams will hunt you on offense until your coach has to pull you.
