So you just turned 50 huh? Got the middle age crazy itch? Are you frugal and not dropping 50k plus on a red convertible sports car? Do what I did! Relive your dirt bike years as a youth!
Bought this guy 8 years ago with 800 miles on it. Quite the sad story as the guy who sold it had just bought his and hers Hondas dirt bikes but had a household accident and couldn't ride anymore. I've put 3k on it since. 99% road miles - a few off road trips but mostly it's my to gym and back ride.
It's a conversation starter being one of the bigger dirt bikes ever made.
It has a carburetor - you hear that old timers! An actual carb with a float and jets and everything! And no troublesome radiator or such. Essentially, it's a big lawnmower that will do 90 and pop wheelies. Honda has produced this bike for like 25 years essentially unchanged - so parts are plentiful and cheap and a ton of aftermarket goodies if so inclined.
I've only ran non-ethanol fuel in it….thanks Bucees!!
My only mods are hand guards, small luggage rack, smog removal kit upgrade, and dc charger install on instrument cluster to power an iphone/gps. A very common mod on this bike is upgrading jets on carb (performance is really dialed down to pass US emissions) but I never took that on - it's fast enough for me as is.
New battery - 1.5k on tires (hybrids - fine for street but can handle light off-roading).
Warning - it is one of the tallest bikes ever built. I have 32 inch inseam and it's tip toes when not in motion.
4,500 - League City TX.
