AG
Figured a consolidated thread for more official news would be worth it instead of wrangling like five separate ones. Even got the requisite five stars on each side.

Anyhoo, here is the latest. Our AG weighs in himself. Paxton officially confirms legal action against the Big12 by Texas Tech if the rest of the conferences seek action against the tceh tards. Which so far is mainly not playing them.

This whole thing continues to just absolute spiral down the toilet.

ETA: Corrected my statement. Ok, confused again. The legalese is frustrating me. I can't tell if Paxton is alleging that Texas will seek to bring any B12 member to court or if he is just affirming that Tech will indeed seek legal recourse if anyone brings anything against Tech themselves. I hope a lawyer con decipher that for us/me.

Odd for the AG to be siding with a single university in TX, notwithstanding there's several other TX schools in the B12... Does paxton realize TT isn't the only university in TX?

I wonder if he still would've won the primary if he did this a few months ago. Bummer the primary's already happened...

I just don't understand why TT and now Paxton are all bricked up defending what should be an objectively bad character. ALL of this drama and outright lying to our faces "It's doesn't jeopardize the integrity of our sport" (which is beyond ****ing bull****) to have some more or less rando QB play a year or two at an mid to ok school?

This was our last line in the sand that everyone more or less agreed should never be crossed and out of nowhere some desert school decided to just....blow it all up overnight and then play the victim and holier than thou and us against the world all at the same time?

What a wild timeline we live in right now. Harambe dying screwed us all.

So, do you know anything at all about Paxton's characters?

Apparently Cruz and Paxton can't see past Campbell's money. As a previous poster noted, a lot of voters didn't go to TT and want to keep what integrity is left in college sports. Paxton especially should want a good turnout in November. Maybe this is Cruz's last money grab before retiring from the senate.

O/U on how many voters will stay home in november for vote talarico because of this action by the AG's office:

Of course they can't. Career politicians leach off the money of everyone else for a living

Tech will be begging for a seat at the SEC/B1G in a few years and right now they are basically saying they will sue their conference if the conference tries to enforce any rules.

Smart.

While true I wonder if this is just about upholding the decision from the Lubbock county court and not really specific to one university.

Just another reason to "sit this one (the senate race) out." Sorry, everyone. I can't pull the trigger for Paxton. He's a bad actor, and now he's meddling where he shouldn't be. Plus, as a lawyer, I believe his veiled threat has no legal basis. The B12 has the right to punish any institution, team, coach or player in the conference when warranted. Now we know he can be bought to respond to ANY issue, even those beyond his purview.

Haha great way of looking at it. Tech is causing irreparable damage to their brand over a quarterback that is 1-12 in November. They think they are going to be the winners coming out of this.

Yes, and, it's so clear cut why wouldn't you run a bunch of ads that say "Ken Paxton thinks it's ok for college football players to bet against their own teams"

It's a lot easier to explain than most of his more serious scandals

Do we want both of our Senator's bought and paid for by Campbell ? Think about that. Would either one do what's in the best interest for other Texas schools or wait on the next bag of money from Campbell?

Why am I not surprised the scumbag AG has weighed in on Tech's side. Why is it even something he needs to comment on? Maybe I don't understand how, legally, the Texas AG's office might become a party to this.

Well, Maine Democrats lowered their standards (morals?) by supporting and voting Plater as their Senatorial candidate. And he has WAY more controversial baggage than Paxton. At least he's not a nazi sympathizer and self-professed communist...among other things. And there's no way in hell I could vote for Talifreako.

As someone said earlier, Tech is a state institution. So it would make sense for the state AG to defend them. However, the other party in the suit is also a state institution (U of H). So that makes it complicated and he should have probably just stayed out of it.

Paxton is a terrible human being to begin with. None of this is surprising to me but come November Texas needs to vote him out of office. He really deserves prison time more than any chance of a TX senate seat. Trump really screwed up endorsing that idiot.

The letter goes a lot further than pointing out or trying to defend the court ruling...

It was also signed by the chief of the antitrust division...which I take as a sign the AG's Office isn't just trying to do what they view as the minimum job requirement...

Normally I'd agree. But can't take a chance on that heretic homo freak Talarico in office for 6 years

Oh knock it off already. It's a joke, and a funny one.

I have said repeatedly here that I think Sorsby shouldn't be allowed to play a single down this year and that Tech's admin is screwing this up royally.

Learn to laugh a little. It's good for the soul.

FYI

I have gone to bat for Tech the last couple of years when ESPN and some college mouth pieces kept bashing them for buying teams. I have even battled some Ags on this site that called their softball team mercenaries, reminding them that Texas is also paying a lot of money for their team.

But no, I don't think that fake document is funny in the least bit. Tech pointing the fingers at others is part of the reason this looks so bad.

Don't be a drama queen. Paxton already has a long history of accepting kickbacks, securities and mortgage frauds among many other things. It was so extensive and embarrassing to the GOP that his own party impeached him. While Cornyn wasn't exciting he at least isn't a trash scumbag. No, if you vote for Paxton you deserve everything that comes with it because a leopard doesn't change it's spots just because you put him in a new location. Paxton will just have a new avenue to start more scams on the taxpayers he is supposed to represent. There's nothing that Talarico has said or done that is remotely close to Paxton. The dude is more fit for prison than the US Senate.
