New RB Portal Update:

Texas A&M is now targeting Michigan State transfer RB Makhi Frazier,
who is reportedly coming off a Friday visit to Ohio State this week and has now delayed
any decisions until he visits Mike Elko and the Aggies in College Station.

The 5'10" , 220 lbs. McKinney, Texas native is coming off an impressive 2025 sophomore
campaign after rushing for 520 yards and two touchdowns, averaging 4.5 yards per carry.
He is the #7 ranked top RB in the 2026 portal. He also has offers from Auburn, Penn State & Florida.
He is only 1 of 2 remaining Top 10 RBs (On3) that are still available on the board for 2026.

Now that Baylor transfer RB Bryson Washington (#13 ranked top RB in the 2026 portal)
has committed to Auburn, The Aggies have moved Makhi Frazier into the top spot.

He'd be a great pick up. At 220 lbs he'd definitely help in the short yardage situations.

Saying that he had an impressive season is hyperbolic.

Agreed. Solid season but impressive might be a stretch. Rushed for 100 yds in 2 games. (Western Michigan & Michigan).
- 2 Rushing TD's for the season.
- 25 yds receiving for the season. Missed the last the 2 games of the season.

- The argument could be made, J Morrow had a more complete stat line combining Rushing & Receiving as a True Freshman.

- Basically the same size as Morrow and Riden.

Our future big back is already on campus. Tiger Riden. He just needs to get completely healthy.

Set the all time rush record at state power DeSoto with 4,250 yds and 60 TDs.

Did we have any interest in him coming out of highschool?

Yes, a healthy Riden should be very good. He is listed at 5-11 212, although I think he is a little heavier now. Morrow is also going to be very good. Morrow is listed at 5-9 205. He is very quick. Another RB would be good for depth. Running backs are susceptible to injury. Owens has also gotten bigger. If he can go through spring without another injury, he should be improved. Very highly rated out of HS.

Building depth. He likely would be a #3 RB or #4 RB.

I think Frazier has a good 15-20 pounds on Morrow.

Correct. Give him an offseason with Moffit and I'll bet he's close to 215 by next fall as a Sophomore. Im really impressed with Morrow. He has some wiggle, he plays with leverage and power. He's solid on yards after contact, he seemed to always be falling forward after contact. He also proved to be a real threat in the passing game.

This is the correct answer or better yet an experienced starter.

Y'all need to move on. If we're going after a QB, it'll be for QB2. We're not going to pay for two QB1s.

Depth guy. Doesn't raise the ceiling. He's an EJ Smith or Amari Daniels level player. You'd rather have him as your third back than rely upon him to carry it more than 5x game.

As it stands right now, RB is starting to look dicey, unless a surprise transfer pops up or KJ Edward's picks up the assignments very quickly (typically tough for freshman running backs).

RB is not looking dicey AT ALL, it is one of the strongest position rooms we have, unless you think KJ Edwards and the Ga kid won't show up.

Elko knows what he is doing. Same narrative about our DL prior to last season and it was a team strength.

But I would add this RB if he wants to be an Aggie.

Yes.

To the contrary of many, Elko is searching for a bell cow angry, violent, thumper to wear down defenses. See Miami's Mark Fletcher. Owens or Morrow are no where near that and neither are the redshirts or true freshmen.

Owens is average. Huge disappointment.
The rest are really young.

We should have a RB that's old enough and good enough to get the attention of NFL scouts, every year.
Right now, not sure we do.

Agreed.

Owens is a WR skill set playing RB imo.

A really young player can do fine at RB but we didn't see much this year to think otherwise when Moss went down

I addressed the issue with the freshmen, in the post. Both will step on the practice field as 1 and 2 in the talent rankings, but they're freshmen and A&M has a 175lbs qb.

Morrow has potential as a nice middle of the pack SEC back, but he doesn't have the frame for 15+ carries every game. I really like him, and was saying so prior to the first game. Riden hasn't been given an opportunity, and imo that is telling, given how much A&M struggled in short yardage after Moss went down.

If you're of the opinion that Owens is a starting level running back, we simply can't see eye to eye.

all i want is a straight line masher who is 3 yards and a cloud of dust. i feel good about our other guys and the skills they bring. but when eveyone in the stadium knows he is gettting the ball can he still get you 2-3 yards. we need that type of back. tiger may be tht guy but i wouldnt out all my eggs in that basket juat yet.

I taught him in 6th grade and he told me at the time he was going to be an NFL running back. He has a great personality, great leader and falls in line with what Elko wants as far as culture and work ethic.

He would be a great pick up just on his intangibles, and from my point of view, was a better LB than RB in high school.

I don't know if we have to sacrifice big play potential entirely, but I agree - one of our big issues this year (showed up in goal line and 3rd downs) was an inability to line up and get yards when everybody knew we were going to run. We can talk all we want about playcalling, but the truth is, to win games you need to be able to convert 3rd & 2.

Indiana running backs -

Roman Hemby - transfer from lowly Maryland
Kaelon Black - transfer from lowly James Madison

If you can play, you can play regardless of conference.
