Wife and I are going to start tracking calories to ensure we remain in a caloric deficit. MyFitnessPal is one we've used in the past, but wanted to get ideas from others that have found better apps/programs.

Any information is appreciated.

I used to use MFP but had a dietician recommend Lose It! as an alternative when they removed the barcode scanning capability from their free app.

It's worked well for me - I did eventually purchase the paid version of it but it is still cheaper than MFP. I think I was paying about $5/month until they offered a sale on lifetime subscriptions for $80 or so.

I also use Lose It. I was a long time MFP fan but prefer the Lose It ui more.

I'd like a little more AI implementation in Lose It, but it's fine.

I did some research and trials a few months ago and MacrosFirst was the one I liked the most that was free.

There are some cool tools, like lots of AI integration w/ uploading based on pictures or descriptions, but the free version has been more than enough for me.

I've been using MFP for about 13 years now, and before that I was using FitDay. But MFP kinda sucks these days. The app is slow and buggy, and same with the website.

I've heard good things about Kronometer, because it tracks way more nutrients than MFP. Have also heard good things about MacroFactor - cheaper than MFP and easier to use.

But there are a bunch more out there. I'm leaning towards trying Kronometer, but would be interested in hearing more from others.

I use MacrosFirst and agree. Provides me with what I need and is free

I've used the Fitbit app for over a decade. Now that Google killed the app, the replacement Google Health is worse than terrible.

I just downloaded MacrosFirst but it's showing to only be free for one week. Then it's $72/year. Did I download the wrong one?

Maybe you are looking at a free trial for the subscription? The app is free. You need to pay to unlock all features of the app, but the free version has more than enough for me and more than any other app I trialed.

My Fitness Pal, but set your location to Canada. Barcode scan is free.

Yeah, that's the one. I'll give it a go. It's very likely I don't need any of the paid features.

Agree again, I've been using the free version of MacrosFirst for 3 months now. It's got all I need.

I use Cal AI. I can't say if it is the best or not but it cost me $30 per year and they do a 3 day free trial to see if you like it before paying.

It doesn't take much of my time because I just snap a photo but for meat it works better if you tell it how much the meat weighs and what you cooked it with. If not, I feel like it will come in low on the calories with its estimate. I think it is fairly accurate based on the results I have had with it when cooking at home and helping it out with more info. I don't trust it very much to give me a good estimate in. a restaurant. Sometimes I just take my own guess (1,000 calories on the plate) and if it tells me 800 I adjust the estimate up to my guess. If not I would probably be going over my goal each day and not losing weight at the pace I want.
