Last week, i finally asked about the OP issue about the lack and or zero of college apparel options at the stores to an employee because I've noticed that as well. She said it had something to do with their licensing agreement and the college apparel that are in stores are returns. She said that one can still purchase college stuff online.

Had to do a holiday stop by Dicks yesterday, and as other posters have mentioned, their college stuff is just awesome. Really impressed.
